Marianne Søgaard

Marianne Søgaard (born 12 August 1982)[1] is a Danish songwriter, composer, singer and folk high school teacher. She is represented with several melodies and a single text in the Højskolesangbogen's 19th edition. Søgaard has been a high school teacher at Silkeborg High School since 2017.[1] She had 7 songs recorded in the Højskolesangbogen's 19th edition in 2020.[1]

Biography

Søgaard is trained as a rhythmic singer at Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, and she has a bachelor's degree in theology from Aarhus University.[1]

In 2018, she won a competition held by DR P2 for a new Danish birthday song with the song "Fantastiske fødselar".[2] For the FDF's national camp in 2022, she wrote their official hymn.[3]

Among the songs Søgaard has had included in the Højskolesangbogen is "Dommen er felldet, no appel" for which she wrote both the lyrics and the music. It was written for a morning assembly at Silkeborg High School in 2019.[4] In the Kirkesangbogen in 2017, she has recorded three songs: "We come to your house", "Hold up the hope" and "I know that one and one are two".[5]

Personal life

Søgaard lives in Silkeborg. She is married and has 3 children.[1]
