Douglass C. Perry (born December 28, 1965) is an American video game journalist whose work encompasses online, print, and television media. He has reported on the game industry since 1994.
He began working as managing editor of
While at IGN, he appeared on CNN Headline News (discussing Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City), Spike TV's Game Head (the 2006 console wars), MTV (Gears of War 1 multiplayer), the BBC News (on the PS2 launch), IGN Weekly, GamerNation, and had a semi-weekly appearance on G4TV. He wrote 11 strategy guides from 1997-2002 for Brady Publishing including GoldenEye 007, Tomb Raider III, and Diddy Kong Racing, among others.
He left IGN in April 2007 to become editorial director of GameTap with Turner Broadcasting. His exit was captured in IGN's Cubetoons Toons: Level 62 and in a story on GameDaily entitled, "Media Exodus: IGN's Doug Perry, GameSpot's Curt Feldman, CNN's Chris Morris, 1UP's Luke Smith Depart.".
At GameTap he hired veteran editors Curt Feldman, Jon Robinson, Giancarlo Varanini, Thierry Nguyen, Dana Jongewaard, Wes Nihei, and Street Fighter tournament champion Jared Rea. He made connections at CNN (also owned by Turner), enabling GameTap’s editors to write for CNN’s tech site ("GTA' multiplayer lets you and 15 pals cause havoc). He also appeared on CNN’s Hardline news program.
After leaving GameTap in 2008, he returned to Future Publishing and spearheaded editorial for DailyRadar's aggregation site

Perry is currently (2012) a freelance journalist and editor writing for EGM, Kotaku, and Machinima and consults on game development with a half dozen prominent game publishers.
