Mojubaolu Olufunke Okome (born December 15, 1958) is a Nigerian professor of Political Science, African and Women's Studies at

Fulbright scholar, author and speaker.[1] She is one of the foremost activists in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign that earned her the title, Professor of Bring Back Our Girls[2] as well as a leading members of Nigerian Feminists Womanifesto, a body recognised for their commitments to women's rights.[3] She has consulted for the United Nations and Commonwealth on international development issues.[4][5]

She focuses on democratization and economic liberalization, democracy, human rights, nationalism and ethnicity, economic and political development, state-society relations, globalization and gender relations with a focus on Africa within the world economy, globalization, politics, and gender and power in African. These all reflect in her numerous publications.[5]

Education

She was educated at the Anglican Girls Primary School, Surulere, Lagos (1964-1970), Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Secondary School, Yaba, Lagos (1970-1974 and Methodist Girls' High School, Yaba, Lagos (1974-1976).

She proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Oyo State where she studied and obtained a BSc. Hons in Political Science (1976-1979) after which she proceeded to Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York, the United States where she obtained a master's degree (1981-1982). She obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science with a focus in International Relations/International Political economy with Regional Specialization in Africa at Columbia University (1982-1996)[1]
