Dorothy "dodie" Miranda Clark[7] (born 11 April 1995) is an English singer-songwriter, author, and YouTuber from Epping, Essex. Clark is known for her piano and ukulele covers, as well as her original songs. She has over 160 videos, over 1.7M subscribers, and over 200 million views on her main channel (as of July 2018).[5] On her side channel, she has 350+ videos, over 900K subscribers, and over 100 million views.[4] On 9 December 2016, she released the first video on her Vevo channel, dodieVEVO, where she has over 11.8 million views and over 372K subscribers. She has collaborated with many other YouTube artists including Tessa Violet, Julia Nunes, Lauren Aquilina , Orla Gartland, Thomas Sanders, Jon Cozart, Emma Blackery and Flashback. [8] In 2018, Clark collaborated with singer, Tom Walker on "Human", the lead single from her third EP of the same name. [9]

Clark has released three independent EPs—Intertwined (2016), You (2017), and Human (2019)—all of which charted within the top 40 of the official UK Albums Chart at numbers 35, 6 and 5 respectively.[10]

Career

Dodie's first channel was called "Dodders5," now known as the "Alice and Dodie show!" which was created on 1 August 2007 and shared with her friend Alice Webb.[11]

Clark's main channel "doddleoddle" was created on 7 February 2011; her first video on that channel, an original song called "Rain," was uploaded on 14 April that year. In addition to her main channel, Clark has a

VEVO channel, "dodieVEVO",[12] and a side channel, "doddlevloggle".[13]

On 18 November 2016, Clark self-released her first EP, Intertwined.[14] Despite its unsigned status, the EP reached number 35 on the official UK album charts during its first week of release.[15]

Clark also co-hosted Coca-Cola's CokeTV alongside fellow YouTuber Manny Brown, where they took part in various activities.[16]

Dodie's second EP, You, was released on 11 August 2017. In its opening week of release, the EP debuted at number 6 on the official UK Albums Chart—29 places higher than the peak of Intertwined, thereby marking a new personal best for Clark.[17] It also debuted at number 55 on the US Billboard 200.[18]

In June 2017, dodie announced that she was writing a book.[19] On 2 November 2017, Clark published her autobiographical book titled Secrets for the Mad: Obsessions, Confessions and Life Lessons.

Dodie has also been featured on lyric annotation website

Genius where she analysed her single "Party Tattoos".[20] In 2018, she was featured in a collaboration with Faultline, a cover of the song "All I Do Is Dream of You" which was featured in an advertising campaign by Audi in the United Kingdom.[21][22]

On 18 September 2018, dodie announced her third EP, entitled Human, which came out on 18 January 2019, with the title track being the lead single released on 21 September. The EP rose to number 5 on the official UK Albums Chart.[23]

Touring

In 2014, Clark joined fellow YouTuber Bry on his national tour of the UK and rejoined him on his Australian and New Zealand tour in 2015. In January 2015, she supported Bethan Leadley (MusicalBethan) on her UK Tour. She toured with Tessa Violet twice over the period of 2015–2016, as well as with Jon Cozart and Rusty Clanton in 2016.[24]

She toured the UK for her EP, Intertwined, in March 2017, with Rusty Clanton as her opening act and Orla Gartland as her guitarist.[25][26] Dodie also toured her You EP, during October 2017, again with Orla.[27] Dodie toured Europe in February and March 2018.[28] She also had her 3rd UK tour, titled ‘The Spring Tour’,[29] where she was supported by the acts Fenne Lily and Skinny Living. Dodie also frequently performs at YouTube-related and musical festival events.[30][31][24] Dodie toured with Tessa Violet in the US in September 2018.[32][33][34]

Personal life

Clark is

bisexual, and came out openly in 2016.[35]
She has since been celebrated as a prominent bisexual role model and campaigner.

In 2018, Clark voiced her support for student-led political campaign group

For our Future’s Sake (FFS), who advocate a people’s vote on the Brexit
deal.
