BackupGoo is among the first major

web applications and software as a service solutions to local data storage systems like fileservers, harddisks and NAS systems. The company is often associated[1][2][3][4] with the data liberation
movement.

Backup for Google

BackupGoo allows the connection to a normal Google account or a complete

Google Apps for Business
domain and its local backup.

The connection to Google is established solely between the client and Google. The connection and authentication is accomplished using Google's preferred OAuth 2.0 authentication mechanism. Furthermore, using Google APIs and open source APIs Google data is accessed and downloaded to local storage devices. The target for download as well as the services to backup can be chosen freely. Further options allow the download of Google Drive data in different formats, tracking of meta data on Google Drive files in connection with a report as well as backing up multiple accounts in parallel.

Backup for Salesforce

Currently in beta trial, BackupGoo allows a local backup of Salesforce data.[6]

Using Salesforces REST API,[7] BackupGoo allows a local backup of Salesforce data.

History

Founded in 2011 by Nico Güttler, Dominic Jansen and Raphael Bauer, BackupGoo initially provided backup solutions for single Google accounts. The services at first only covered Gmail but were then subsequently extended to

Google Apps. Version 5 of BackupGoo, released April 2013, features support for OAuth 2.0 authentication and much improved and faster backups.[8] In June 2013 BackupGoo announced support for Salesforce as closed beta.[9]
