Squishables are plush stuffed animals made from high quality material and are known for being adorable designs. The plush designs are quite diverse ranging from food, and animals to mythical creatures.[1] Squishables even appeal to teens and adults because of designs that are inspired from science fiction, comics and the web.[2] The Squishable Company relies on customers to choose what designs they create and what websites are coded.[3]

History

The Squishable Corporation was founded in 2007 by Zoe Fraade-Blanar and Aaron Glazer, a husband and wife team. The two originally worked in IT consulting and ran Squishable as a side business, but eventually chose to work on Squishables full time.[4][5] As of 2020 Glazer serves as the chairman of the board and Fraade- Blanar serves as vice president.[6] The company has 16 employees and has sold over one million Squishables, for a total of 3.02 (mil USD) sales.[specify][7]

The company is headquartered in New York City and has in 2017, was nominated for the Best Use of Social Media at The Blades Awards.[8][9][10] The Squishable Corporation has made over 160 designs, soliciting for design ideas on social media.[11]

Project Open Squish

In Project Open Squish, fans will send in submissions for possible Squishable designs. The fans use a specific format to design the Squishable and if it is a good submission, it will be placed on the company's website for a vote. The winner of the design contest will receive a cash prize, gift certificate, their submission as a push, and a hashtag with their name. [4] The winners will also get to go to China for making the prototype, and then Squishable employees give revisions back to the factory. There has actually been 3,500 designs submitted since the company's start of the project.[12] The Squishable Corporation has its' own Facebook page where polls are posted regularly for users to decide what designs will go into production.[13] Project Open Squish has been a nomination for the most unique marketing promotion.[14]
