1991: 1991's programming was branded as the Ultimate Spring Break Endur-a-thon, featuring college students competing in athletic activities. Special editions of MTV shows included The Big Picture, Club MTV, Dial MTV, Half Hour Comedy Hour, Hot Seat, Street Party, Top 20 Video Countdown, and Yo! MTV Raps. Dayton

Municipal assignment to the building fluctuated throughout the school's tenure in the regional district, most often during the Baby Boom. Clark and Garwood students were transferred to Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School upon that school's opening in 1956. Berkeley Heights and Mountainside students were transferred to Governor Livingston Regional High School upon that school's opening in 1960, although Mountainside students returned to Dayton by the mid-1970s due to overcrowding at Governor Livingston. Kenilworth students were transferred to David Brearley Regional High School upon that school's opening in 1966. Following Brearley's closure in 1993, all future Kenilworth students were assigned to Dayton while current Brearley students were permitted to attend either Johnson or Dayton. Concurrently, all future Mountainside students were assigned to Governor Livingston while current Mountainside students at Dayton were permitted to either transfer to Governor Livingston or remain at Dayton. Since the dissolution of the regional district in 1997, Dayton has only housed Springfield pupils.

Seaside Heights

Modern development began in 1909, when the Manhassett Realty Company began selling lots in the community with the intention of selling vacation properties to Philadelphia and Camden residents. Development was accelerated by the completion of the Barnegat Bay bridge in 1915 and the installation of utilities.
