User:Matchups

Source: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I use Matchups as a username all over the place, including my domain www.matchups.com which I later sold. The original source was a

official dictionary
.

My main interest (from the Wiki point of view at least) is games, and bridge in particular, though I spend most of my time these days being a wikignome.

As of October 2013, I have 4234live edits. Though most are small, nearly all have edit summaries.

  • My 1000th edit (January 19, 2007, to NMP)
  • My 2000th edit (December 31, 2007, to
    List of Oberlin College alumni
, an article I update frequently based on information in the alumni magazine)
  • My 3000th edit (October 15, 2009, to Template:Rfd bottom, correcting wording)
  • My 4000th edit (June 23, 2011, creating a talk page for
    Math Overflow
after the original talk page had been deleted for consisting solely of a request for homework help)

Wikiphilosophy

I consider myself an encyclopedist, similar to what WP would classify as a Delusionist. In general, if there is information for which members of the general public would tend to go to an encyclopedia, it should be in WP. If it is information which one would expect to find in a telephone directory, almanac, yearbook, annual report, or other specialized reference, or if it is not of interest to the general public, then it should not be here.

Although I would love to do more substantial contributing, and perhaps be an

admin
someday, parenthood currently limits me mostly to wikignome activities.

Friends

There are (or should be) Wikipedia articles on several friends and acquaintances of mine. Not to drop names, but just so you know where my biases may lie:

There has also been an article titled Alan Frank twice; deleted once due to copyright infringement; the second time it was a dumb redirect about me and deleted on my proposal.
