Bollywood: Best Film Awards
The Hindi cinema holds many types of annual award functions and ceremonies to celebrate the success of many of these people, as well as reflecting on the industry as a whole. Some of these film awards include National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, IIFA Awards, Stardust Awards, Star Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards and many more. Among many of the film awards, National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards are the most prestigious and the oldest award ceremonies. However, there are some award ceremonies which are held overseas. Those include IIFA Awards, Zee Cine Awards and Global Indian Film Awards. Throughout each of these award shows, there are many categories and subcategories of the awards and recognitions that are awarded to many deserving individuals. Among the list of categories is the highly acclaimed category of Best Film, usually presented near the end of the award show.[1]
Nominations
Entries of dubbed, revised or copied versions of a film or translation, abridgements, edited or annotated works and reprints are ineligible for the awards. There is a separate category of film-critics awards, decided by noted film-critics rather than popular votes. This dual format has also generated some controversy amongst viewers and recipients. The results decided among the jury members is given more weighting versus those chosen by the public votes. Filmfare Awards are decided according to votes by public as well as by the experts, while the National Film Awards are decided by the expert panel appointed by the Indian Government.[2]
