The following are a list of characters featured in the

Nickelodeon animated series, The Fairly OddParents.[1]

Main characters

Timmy Turner

Timmy Turner

Timmy Turner (Tara Strong) is a main character of The Fairly OddParents.[2] His parents are rarely around and take little interest in him.[2] Timmy got his buck teeth when his grandfather let him suck on his pacifier too long.[3] Timmy has a short attention span, but is also unusually resourceful at times, particularly for a ten year old.[4] Timmy, being ten, learns that he will forget all about fairies when he turns 18, meaning he still has 8 years left with Cosmo and Wanda.[5] Timmy's closest friends are Chester, AJ, Sanjay, and Elmer.[6] Timmy is named after creator Butch Hartman's little brother.[7]

Cosmo and Wanda

Cosmo (right) and Wanda (left)

Cosmo (

Susan Blakeslee) are a married pair of fairy godparents that are assigned to Timmy.[2] In the series' beginnings, they were portrayed as being very much in love; in later seasons, a they turned into more of a nagging wife/idiot husband portrayal.[8] The two are aged over several thousand years.[9] Cosmo's mother, Mama Cosma, disapproves of his marriage to Wanda, while similarily, Wanda's father, Big Daddy, loathes her marriage to Cosmo.[10] Wanda has twin sister named Blonda, who has appeared in several episodes.[10] In "Wishy Washy," they turned back into teenagers, which causes Poof to disappear, as they were never married.[11] Cosmo is the second-youngest fairy, besides his son, Poof.[12] According to creator Butch Hartman, Wanda was only supposed to be assigned to Timmy, but thought it would be really cool if she had a husband, prompting him to create Cosmo.[7] Another reason was because he was interested in a fairy godfather.[7]

Poof

Poof

Poof (

Elvis.[12] Timmy was the one who gave Poof his name, due to the fact that "Poof" is mostly the only word he says.[12] While Cosmo's dominant color is green and Wanda's is pink, Poof's color is purple.[12]

Recurring characters

Timmy's friends

Chester McBadbat (

Gary Leroi Gray), Elmer (Dee Bradley Baker), and Sanjay (Dee Bradley Baker) are four of Timmy's closest friends.[6] Chester has huge braces, and lives in a run-down trailer with his father, who wears a bag over his head because of a blunder he made during a baseball game.[13] AJ is the genius of Timmy's class, and invents a lot of things. He gets really jealous if anyone else wins first place,[14] and his room doubles as a secret lab.[14] Elmer is a nerdy kid with a large boil on his face, which speaks about ruling the world. Timmy named him "a backup Timmy".[15] Sanjay is also ten, and somewhat obsessed with Timmy. Sanjay is known for having a shrill voice.[16] Frankie Muniz had done the voice of Chester from 2001 until 2003,[17] while Ibrahim Haneef Muhammad did the voice of AJ from 2001 until 2002.[18]

Mr. and Mrs. Turner

Mr. (

Susan Blakeslee) are Timmy's parents. They have been called "Dad" or "Mom", or "Timmy's Dad" or "Timmy's Mom" even when they were children.[19] The two are known for being really goofy, even more than Cosmo.[5] Timmy's dad is always making inventions for the family, though they never work well.[20] On one occasion, when Timmy's mom worked for a weather station, Timmy wished his mother's weather predictions would come true, which caused disastrous events.[21]

Vicky and Tootie

Vicky (

Grey Delisle) are two of Timmy's greatest fears. Vicky is a 16-year-old babysitter that constantly tortures Timmy and other children.[2] She enjoys money, torturing children (mostly Timmy), and watching TV.[1] A running gag is that during the opening credits, her head gets changed into something after saying "yeah right!" at the end of the theme song.[22] Vicky only fears Mr. Turner's wallet being empty. Vicky is referenced in Sharon Lamb's book Packaging Girlhood: Rescuing Our Daughters from Marketers' Schemes, where she is referred to as "the meanest teen in the toon".[23] Tootie is Vicky's younger sister, and unlike Vicky, she professes an obsession with Timmy. When Vicky isn't torturing the kids she babysits, she tortures her, meaning she is miserable enough to have fairy godparents (in fact, she's twice as miserable as Timmy), but it is revealed the reason she can't have any fairy godparents is because she can't keep a secret, which is a key factor in getting godparents.[24]
