Sandusky, Ohio

Hi I am a resident of Sandusky and I want Sandusky to have a beautiful, comprehensive picture of our city as the main photo on Sandusky, Ohio Wiki page. Is there any way that I can upload a new photo that is an ariel photo of our city? How would I go about this. I dont want to argue back and forth with you in editor. 12.111.241.2 (talk) 19:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Please review Commons:First steps/Uploading files and then use the UploadWizard to upload your photo. If you need any help, the folks at Commons:Help desk can assist you. I think your new photo would help the article out a lot! 636Buster (talk) 19:31, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

About montages

@636Buster:

1: The images you added to the Wheeling, West Virginia montage were not og amazing quality (specifically the train station one, which was cropped to the point where only the front doors were really visible). Along with this, the image for WesBanco Arena was removed, which doesn't make sense, as Sports Arenas for a non-school Team are usually notable landmarks in a city.
2: Washington, Pennsylvania's images are not bloat. Again, these are all notable landmarks in the city, and removing them and leaving just the skyline wouldn't really give a decent idea of whats in the town itself.

@WeaponizingArchitecture: I would leave the choice of photos for Wheeling up to editors who are more prominent on that page, although I do believe that Chapline Street Row is more recognizable than the North Wheeling Historic District. However, regarding Washington, while I don't disagree with the added pictures being notable, they are indeed bloating the infobox. The extra length to the infobox is inappropriate for an article of that size. I also believe(d?) that somewhere there is a guideline against repeating the same images in the infobox and the article (although the same subject can be shown twice), but I can't find the discussion. Perhaps we could agree to decrease the number of images in the montage? 636Buster (talk) 18:04, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. Ill ask for consensus later. WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 18:09, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@WeaponizingArchitecture: I noticed you have added another of your mediocre images, this time at Wheeling. Can I suggest (insist?) you take a few moments to learn how to process your photos before uploading them, and then posting them into infoboxes? Try this. Download a photo program called "IrfanView" (it's open source). Load that image, go to "image", and then "auto-adjust colors", save the file, upload it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. A similar program called "Gimp" would also drastically improve your photos. (Thanks for letting join in 636Buster!). Magnolia677 (talk) 23:02, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do have gimp, but for some reason it's incredibly Laggy on my laptop. Ill look at the other one later. Thanks WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 00:22, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No consensus to add country to article ledes for colleges and universities

A couple of years ago, I explicitly asked whether country should be added to the lede sentence of articles about colleges and universities. There was no consensus to do so. ElKevbo (talk) 23:57, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ElKevbo, Understood, thanks. I'll defer to you for the edits made thus far. 636Buster (talk) 00:53, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Local consensus cannot override broader consensus so if you know of a project-wide policy or guideline that supports, encourages, or requires this information, please let us know! And if you'd like to open the discussion again to see if a consensus has emerged or can emerge (perhaps with an RfC that attracts more editors), I'd be supportive of that. ElKevbo (talk) 12:24, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to nuke you recent edit! I was in the middle of a longer edit and overrode the conflict. I'll fix it. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:12, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677, my apologies! I didn't mean to interfere with your work at all. Looks like we were going for the same layout. 636Buster (talk) 12:22, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What's your opinion about two of the photos in the infobox: the sunset and the trees. The sunset is just another rooftop panorama, like the one about it, only more "artistic". And the trees don't really show the city. Should other photos be looked for? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:38, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Huron River photo doesn't really show anything to me; frankly, even the photo in the body is more illustrative of how the river interacts with the city via the water trail. As to the sunset photo, it is just another rooftop panorama. It's from a different location and showing a different angle, but I don't think Ann Arbor's skyline is notable enough to call for two images. I think a neighborhood-level photo would be more illustrative. Let me know your thoughts! 636Buster (talk) 22:45, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
