Invitation to write something

Hi Dhtwiki, I'm slooowly putting together the GOCE annual report, which I hope will be ready by early February. Before 2020, the new or continuing Lead Coordinator would write a "Plans for 20xx" closing section (example from 2019). I wrote some drivel for 2022. I thus invite you to write something deep and meaningful for 2024 here. If you'd rather not, we can omit that section. Thanks for what you do and cheers, Baffle☿gab 11:31, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Baffle gab1978: I saw the filler comment on the report, that something possibly inspirational was required, or at least hoped for. I've since been looking for where I mislaid my ebulliently dynamic personality, one that could infuse excited hopefulness into the project. I looked at the previous year's work and thought that I could somewhat copy that, with adjustments. I think that, first, thank yous are in order, even for those that merely sign up, for they encourage the rest merely by doing so. Then, perhaps to try and explain the disappointing trend being a product of our taking on increased responsibilities (e.g. the various template redirects), as well as the continuing clamoring for our services, via templates and, especially, the requests page, due to our having done such wonderful work and having such a stellar reputation. Thanks, I was being flippant above; it's your prerogative as Lead to write that section, your plan sounds good to me. :) I'll let you know when it's ready to go. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 07:02, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of thanks. You've been doing a tremendous amount of coordinator work, and it's much appreciated. You should be a coordinator emeritus, if you're not going to be a nominal coordinator. Dhtwiki (talk) 07:51, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks for the offer but I believe emeritus status is reserved for former Lead Coordinators. Besides, I've been busy in meatspace the past few weeks and I expect to be less active from March until October. I'll still be around though. I think the Annual Report is ready to go now, though it will probably need a tidy-up, which I'll look at this week. I'm sorry for my late reply to this thread, I didn't see your reply until now. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:41, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Baffle gab1978: Tdslk was made emeritus without having served as lead. Emeritus status doesn't require activity, as only Jonesey and Miniapolis are particularly active, with rare exceptions on the part of the others, nor does it mean you can't again be a coordinator, as Miniapolis has shown. You've served 13 terms as coordinator, and, as far as I can tell, are exceeded in that only by Mini, with 19, and Jonesey, with 16, both of whom are on the emeritus list when not serving a regular term as coordinator. Baffle, I just saw this and agree that you should be a coordinator emeritus. Don't worry, you don't have to do anything All the best, Miniapolis 13:46, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
