Welcome

Welcome!
Hello and

welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions
. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
  • Maintain a neutral point of view – this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
  • No edit warring and sockpuppetry.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add troublesome content to any
    blocked from editing
    .
  • Lastly, if you are editing an article about an individual or group of people, please adhere to
    Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons
    ' policy
    .

The

help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page
. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Dave ♠♣♥♦1185♪♫™ 03:14, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on

username policy
.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See

Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites
that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a

Wikipedia administrator
that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See
    username policy
    .
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

The fact that you've emailed me from an email address which starts with the word 'marketing' and is clearly related to this hotel confirms that you're trying to promote the hotel. I'd suggest that you review Wikipedia's policies on the notability of businesses (available at
WP:COI) and then read this article about why trying to use Wikipedia to promote things is a bad and unproductive idea, particularly given that your relationship to the hotel is very clear. Nick-D (talk) 10:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply
