Song additions

How many songs do you intend to list, and on how many disambig pages? Listing every song on every album rather than just the most important could clutter things somewhat. Pseudomonas(talk) 12:40, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your question. I intend to list a lot more, as I find them all important indeed. If you have a different opinion, I would, by all means, like to hear your arguments on objective standards on judging which works of music are important and which are not. Thanks again.

Wikipedia:Notability (music) has some guidance on this. Pseudomonas(talk) 12:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply, although this are not really *your* arguments and I have already read them. Correct my if I'm wrong but, as far as I understand, non-notable or rather non-important items, as you would call them, include "Demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only, and unreleased albums". What's more, even some of those could be notable depending on the circumstances. As I haven't included any of those anywhere, I think it's safe to say that all my entries are notable enough. I apologize if there's something I'm not getting right here, but it all seems quite clear. Thanks again for your time.

That's albums. You want the paragraph on songs. Pseudomonas(talk) 13:07, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I thought I also needed to justify those, too, as the songs paragraph seems even clearer: "Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article". (A) I haven't created independent articles for any of these songs (even the ones, dare I say, you would describe as *important*; (B) This is exactly what I've been doing, i.e. redirecting to other relevant articles. May I also add that, since an encyclopaedia is, above all, a reference work, I think it goes without saying that it needs to include every possible cross-reference between articles, for reasons of user-friendliness. I really hope you can agree with me now.

I reckon you'll be making in the order of about half a million edits, right? Well, somewhere between 100,000 and 1,000,000, probably, concentrated on the most common words. Do you think this should be discussed first? Pseudomonas(talk) 13:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would you say then, that this is about how many additions a single person does? Millions of edits take place every day by (who knows how many) users. It could very well be the case that these were not added by one single person. I'm sorry, I hadn't realized this was personal and I must I'm a little disturbed by this.

I meant the project of systematically adding all songs to disambig pages, not your edits personally. Pseudomonas(talk) 13:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm not sure what you meant exactly, because I'm not adding all songs anyway. If you think this is what I'm doing, I would be glad to produce a list of songs I haven't been adding. If you, however, have some concrete argument as to why these particular songs shouldn't be included, I'd be happy to hear it. So far, you have only provided links to general guidelines which I have certainly been following. If my (very concrete and numbered) arguments have failed to convince you, I don't see what else I can do. I'm just sorry to have to take this not too constructive criticism.

Hi, I just wanted to make you aware that a topic about your edits has been started at

the Admin Noticeboard. This is not to say you're necessarily doing anything wrong (personally, I don't think you are), just that it was brought up there for discussion. Propaniac (talk) 13:36, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply
