Quotes from Martial races of undivided India

Greetings, the book Martial races of undivided India, as well as many other publications by Gyan, have been discredited as having in some cases blatantly copied from Wikipedia, regardless of article quality. Therefore, they are not a reliable source of info, and in some cases have been used as "citations" for the very Wikipedia articles they were copied from. Please be advised that the source is unreliable, so that you may focus your research efforts on reliable sources. Thanks for you work in footnoting though, it is definitely a step forward, we just have to be careful about a few sources. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:13, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see the WP:INDIA discussion on Kurmi/Kunbi?

Greetings, please take a glance at thee comments from a past proposal (which I made and then withdrew); I'd like to know what you think: Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics/Archive_45#Any_reason_not_to_merge_Kurmi_and_Kunbi.3F

Part of my concern is that your proposal seems more political than academic: "these two groups are separate, but must band together politically" sound more like policy recommendation than encyclopedia. Thoughts? MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great concerns about your recent work.

Greetings, can you drop into this discussion here:

WP:POV fork. The material you're adding greatly contradicts a lot of what is covered in Kurmi, and what parts don't seem to be just cut-pasted from that and other articles. Please drop by that discussion and provide some explanation; as things currently stand I'm inclined to propose deletion of those articles as POV forks. Thanks for any input on this issue (on that WP:INDIA page). MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:45, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply

Your addition to

Kurmi Kshatriya has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. This edit certainly introduced a copyright violation. My concern is that there are quite probably others. Please can you remove or massively rephrase any such instances immediately. Sitush (talk) 21:02, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kurmi History

A tag has been placed on

section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the

the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. While looking for sources, it is not necessary that you look for English sources only. Sources in Hindi or other languages can also be used!!! You can provide your own translation!! But the source should pass

WP:V. To format your sources easily, you can also use this tool [1]. Please let me know if I can be of any more help.-MangoWong (talk) 17:45, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply

And about consensus, the responsibility to obtain consensus is not on you alone. In a dispute situation, the other party needs to obtain consensus as much as you. And if someone reverts your edits simply because of no consensus, show them

WP:DRNC. Read it yourself too though.-MangoWong (talk) 18:03, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply

I think I should have clarified already, the policy for using non english sources is explained at

WP:V. Since we have users who do not have a basic common sense about the subject and do not even know what the word means and also do not have any wish to find out how this word is inhuman, but still adamantly behave as if they know better, the difficulty persists. If you do not have a consensus on removing the word, there is also the point that there is no consensus on keeping it.-MangoWong (talk) 10:07, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply

If anyone misbehaves with you, you can report the user for

AIKKM

Whgen you create a new article, such as the one you have just created for the All India Kurmi Kshatriya Mahasabha, that includes copy/pastes from other articles you should always acknowledge the copy/paste in the edit summary. This is in order to comply with Wikipedia's licencing policies. I am unsure how you can fix this retrospectively but it does need to be fixed. Perhaps do an edit to remove all of the content, save the blank page, then paste it back in with a suitable edit summary saying that you have copied content from Kurmi (and any other articles where you may have copied from). Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 16:11, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
