Hey, Welcome to Wikipedia. As for the copyright, if you want to write something, write it in the temp link off that page. The main page needs to be deleted due to the copyright violation. Then whatever is written in the temp page will be moved into the main article space. Don't worry, somebody will clean out the copy vio page eventually. Burgundavia 22:03, Jun 17, 2004 (UTC)
Wikinews demo up and running
Hi!
I'm writing to let you know that the Wikimedia Board of Trustees has approved the first stage of the Wikinews project. There's now a fully operational English demo site at demo.wikinews.org. This will be used for experimenting with various review models and basic policies before the site is launched officially in about a week. demo.wikinews.org will become the English version later.
You voted for the Wikinews project, so I'm asking for your participation now. Everything is open, nothing is final. What Wikinews will and can be depends in large part on you. There already is a global Wikinews mailing list for discussing the project. If you are interested at all, please subscribe -- coordination is of key importance. There's also an
If you're looking for something to do, check out the articles in development and articles in review. Or start a new story in the Wikinews workspace, or ignore the proposed review system - it's up to you. I hope you'll join us soon in this exciting experiment.--

I've noticed that you are part of a Wikipedian FIRSTers category. May I suggest adding the {{User FIRST}} userbox to your page? That will add you to another category of FIRST members that is a bit bigger. Jared W 18:51, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Regarding User:Astronouth7303/Innovation First
Hi,
I've had a look at the references provided at the moment.
Here is my analysis of them:
- References:
- BusinessWeek Company Information
- This would be basically from the company's information. As such, it would not generally be considered independent (although BusinessWeek is independent, they are republishing information available from other sources which basically comes from the company - the personnel etc); it is also not 'significant coverage'
- Robotics Trends
- This appears to be a press release. If that is indeed the case, then it is not independent, as it comes straight from the company. If it is not directly quoting a press release, it is heavily based on one.
- BusinessWeek Company Information
- Potential Sources:
- Business Wire publish press releases - this is directly from the company, and so not independent
- http://eon.businesswire.com/news/eon/20110803005438/en/HEXBUG/toy/kids
- Another Business Wire one - not independent
- http://www.dallasnews.com/business/technology/20091207-Innovation-First-of-Greenville-ready-to-5293.ece
- This looks good! It certainly can be used as a source for an article.
- This is basically a link by the reporter to the main article (which is the previous source mentioned), and doesn't really add anything to it. As such, it wouldn't count as another "source"
- Again, a press release from the company, so not independent.
- This is from a press release ("May 11th, 2010 - 05:02 am ET by Business Wire") so not independent.
I like the Dallas News one (while noting that the blog entry can't count as a source itself, as it adds nothing to the article, but points to the article).
However, the
At the moment, the sources do not meet that standard - most of them are press releases, and you have one source which would be adequate. Also, most of the information in the article is not mentioned by that source, so you'll need to find sources which are not press releases ("wire") or directly on the company's website. They also can't be in "shop" sites - you ideally need mention of the products in the press etc, but where a press release is not directly the source!
Hope this helps,
Regards, PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 05:30, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Most of that article is based on what I know and common knowledge. I've asked for help on it. I'll see what I can dig out. --Astronouth7303 (talk) 07:28, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- No worries! Unfortunately, what you know and common knowledge are not sufficient - there needs to be verifiable sources. I'll keep an eye on it and see how you are getting on, but there isn't an indefinite time that it can remain here without suitable sources. Good luck with finding sources, so that we can keep the article! PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 07:37, 11 December 2011 (UTC)]

File:OpenFIRST screenshot.PNG needs authorship information
The media file you uploaded as File:OpenFIRST screenshot.PNG appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :
- The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
- Where and how this particular version was obtained.
- When the work was created,
If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|Astronouth7303}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
