User talk:AuntFlo
Hello, and
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: offensive usernames. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administratorsusually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Kingturtle (talk) 14:23, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Hello Kingturtle,
'Aunt Flo' is a character from the BBC TV children's show 'Bod' (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bod_%28TV_series%29). Sorry if I seem a little obtuse, but I can't see why anyone might find the name offensive. Is there some implication that I've overlooked? If you can clarify what your concerns might be, I'll be in a better position to respond to them.
All best wishes, AuntFlo (talk) 15:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Please keep the username. But just FYI, Aunt Flo is also slang for a woman's menstrual cycle. See Aunt Flo. Kingturtle (talk) 16:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Apologies: I had no idea. Might the creators of the TV show have been having a cheeky little joke? I suppose some might ask why a perfectly ordinary biological process might be considered 'offensive'... But that's another story, maybe. AuntFlo (talk) 16:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Certainly keep the user name. Kingturtle (talk) 16:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:The Unicorn and the Wasp are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. —TreasuryTag—t—c 11:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
