I'm new to Wikipedia, and I'm still un-familiar with all of the best practices and the recommended styles. I understand that for disambiguation pages, each entry should only have one Wiki-link. In standard English title-casing, out and of are simply prepositions. "Fish out of Water" means the object of the title is the fish, and it's location is "out of water." "Fish Out of Water" means the object of the title is the verbal phrase "fish out" and that it is "of water." It's kind of like changing a locative to a genitive.

How is "fish out of water" different from "time out of mind" given as an example in

MOS:TITLECAPS: When using title case, the following words should be capitalized: ... Words that have the same form as prepositions, but are not being used specifically as prepositions ... The first word in a compound preposition (e.g. Time Out of Mind)? Both appear to be compound prepositions and most reliable sources capitalize "out" but not "of" in publications concerning works with this title. older ≠ wiser

That's kinda wild to me; I've never seen any style guide recommend capitalizing the first of a string of prepositions, but I admit that MOS you linked definitely does. "Time Out of Mind" (to me, and by my reading of the NYT and Chicago guides) means a mental time out, whereas "Time out of Mind" means time immemorial. NYT has an exception for words that are emphasized, but Out isn't emphasized in either.

The general rule is to avoid piping with only a few exceptions. The main one is where some formatting is needed, such as to italicize the title of a work but not the parenthetical disambiguating term. For the hull symbols like you've been adding, the most applicable points are:

• When the link is part of the description, rather than the actual entry name, piping can be used more freely. However, the text of the link should still be very similar to the title of the target article, to avoid confusing the reader.
• Piping may be used when the link is in the description (see § Items appearing within other articles) for linking to a section or anchor point rather than an entire article

You deleted my entry earlier today, which is fine. I’d like to learn how to do it properly so I don’t waste my time when trying to contribute. I was looking for information on movie characters named Buttercup and found the page that I ultimately edited to be missing a character. I added the character and, observing how other posts were done, linked to the movie’s Wikipedia page. Your justification for the edit is that it isn’t mentioned on the linked page, which is true. The page mentions a diabetic police horse (which I did put in my edit) but does not include that its name is Buttercup (which it is). Should I have linked to a video of the scene in which he’s named? A different website outside of Wikipedia? Hello, You reverted my edit on Vilnius Central Business District with an incredibly thorough motivation – “no”.

Here is the reason for my edit: 1. Source says 2000-2018 2. "Since year 2000" has no end date. How much floor area is added depends on the end date. By today's date, there is more floor area than there was in 2018. Therefore, the article should include "2000-2018"

I noticed you dealt with a lot of Quebec river articles with unnecessary disambiguators in the title back in 2021 made by Veillg. I found several dozen more of these articles. Would you recommend that I move them or make redirects without the disambiguator to them, as there are other potentially notable rivers with the same name? I notice you did both. Thanks in advance. Your comment refers to the link to disambiguation pages used in certain articles on the rivers of Quebec. Here are my observations. These links were placed at the beginning of articles on rivers, because they were useful to avoid homonymic confusion. These links were placed at the beginning of the articles because they were relevant and useful. If they are not useful for some, they are very useful for others. Rereading my previous response, I think I misunderstood your comment. You are rather referring to the titles of articles on the rivers of Quebec, containing a disambiguator. In fact, in Quebec toponymy, there are many homonymous rivers among the 4,400 rivers (approximately) registered with the "Commission de toponymie du Québec" (Quebec Board Names). The French version of Wikipedia generally has many more published articles (around 3,500 published articles on rivers) on other homonymous rivers than the English version. In short, it seems appropriate to me that the title of the article in English is similar to the article in French, particularly for those who work in several languages. The use of the disambiguator serves to avoid confusion between homonymous rivers. Hopefully more articles on Quebec's rivers will be translated into English. (talk) 00:17, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Also, in case you didn't know, you should sign messages you leave on talk pages with four tildes. On a side note, do you plan to make more articles on these rivers in the future/is there any reason you made articles on the particular rivers that you did, seeing as there are so many which all seem rather insignificant? As Pppery says, it is almost always wrong for "X" to redirect to "X (Y)". And there is no excuse for creating an article titled "X (Y)" when there is nothing at "X". So I would recommend moving them. older ≠ wiser 06:20, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
