Hi

Is no one speaking to you? So .... hello.

I stopped by to say St Mary's Church, Derby seems to have a coordinate that puts it near Durham. Guess this is an error. (I find my coords by using geograph or google maps) Cheers Victuallers (talk) 16:40, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching that. Should be 52 not 54 deg North - copy and paste error when I pulled the coordinates from Google Maps. My fault for not checking WikiMiniAtlas after editing. Cheers Bobschops (talk) 18:21, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow - aren't you doing stirling work for the co-ords in Derbyshire. Are there any left without them? Victuallers (talk) 21:02, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bob, I see you are still steaming thro' the Derbyshire ones that lack coords. I am trying to add to the polish you are giving them as you go. However, I'm intrigued by Bentinck. I usually use www.geograph.co.uk as it gives me pictures and a good lookup using the Ordnance Survey to find small places. But it cannot find this place and google is no better. I see there is a Bentick Road.... but is there a place called Bentick? Victuallers (talk) 19:24, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Region in coordinates template

You might like to know, that, in edits like this, you can add a more specific region, for instance, Birmingham is region:GB-BIR. There's a full list at ISO 3166-2:GB codes; and they are always in upper case. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 11:04, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I took out your co-ordinates and you had to put them back - they were in the middle of a mess of vandalism, but I should have taken the time to check that they were right and save them. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:50, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coords

Excellent coord work, Bobschops. Kudos to you. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:05, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Really feels like we're getting on top of the UK coording backlog now. Despite the bot's efforts to confound us. ~5,000 cleared over the past month and a bit. Bobschops (talk) 14:56, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, progress on UK articles has been startling; digging into the stats at http://toolserver.org/~para/coordmissing/ it seems to me that something like 80% of articles coorded are from the UK. Hence the rest of the world ... not so good. I take it you've met the table in Category talk:United Kingdom articles missing geocoordinate data, which is good for those of us with countitus? I'm currently mining Category:Unclassified articles missing geocoordinate data for UK articles ... I've found a hundred or so today, and reckon I can find the same again tomorrow. And if The Anome is going to find 30k more articles, as he expects to [1] I'd have thought the UK would not get more than 10% of them, and perhaps much less. So yes, progress and the auspices are good. That said I think I can count on one hand or maybe, just, on two, the number of people who like you have put so much effort into this. So, many thanks for your efforts; very much appreciated. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:22, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can I add my appreciation to the work you and Tag are doing as you sweep through Surrey and the Thames Valley. Regards Motmit (talk) 08:33, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. The coordinates for the above, afraid to say, are way out. Would be grateful if you might be able to fix, since I haven't a clue how to. The marker needs to be in Elm Park, SW2 - further west of the present flag. In the relevant Google map, the school is located immediately to the left of the 'k' in 'Elm Park,' between Craster Road & Craignair Road. Currently appears in Street View as a scaffolded building site. Please forgive me for being so dreadfully unscientific. Should you need any clarification, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
