Hello! I could use some clarification on the definition of a "spam" article. It seems odd to me that all of the articles on books should be deleted simply because a page on the author has been added. I can think of many, many examples where there are pages for both books and authors - and this keeps the author's page from being cluttered up with specific information on books. (re: Beth Revis) I'm happy to work on the articles to make them better. I added the author page in the first place because it seemed an oversight to have a page on a book but not the author.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Creating an article can be a frustrating and difficult process for newcomers. Particularly because there are so many rules especially about people.

Previous account?

Hi Caseylf. Your first contributions show a surprizing level of competence with editing Wikipedia pages, as well as navigation of behind-the-scenes pages such as Wikiprojects and AfDs. Have you edited here before under a previous account? ThemFromSpace 02:09, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm a graduate student studying social computing, so I've read a great deal about how Wikipedia works. One of the reasons I started contributing was a couple of interesting papers at the recent Computer Supported Cooperative Work conference about AfD and Teahouse. Thank you for the compliment! Caseylf (talk) 02:39, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • And as an aside, I am also trying to get more involved and be as useful as possible, so if you have any suggestions or notice any missteps on my part please do let me know. I've done a fair amount of poking around but there is still a steep learning curve for some things. Caseylf (talk) 02:46, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The best advice I can offer is to watch how things are done, either by going through page histories or by reading over previous discussions. So if you want to write an article about a local coffee shop, see how the other articles on local coffee shops are written. The teahouse is a great place to step into editing. Be careful with AfD unless you have thick skin, it's not the most welcoming place on Wikipedia. Stay far away from heated disputes (disputes that have existed for years that noone can fix) and editors prone to causing a ruckus. ThemFromSpace 02:57, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Magisterium Series

Hello, Caseylf,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Magisterium Series should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Magisterium Series .

Disambiguation link notification for December 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Bane Chronicles, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Andrew Scott and Jesse Williams (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Tim Pratt may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * ''Rags and Bones: New Twists on Timeless Tales'', Little Brown, 2013 (with [[Melissa Marr (author)|Melissa Marr]]
