Inquiry on new article Draft:White Rock Whalers
Hi Cassiopeia,
New contributor to wikipedia. I'm attempting to add an article for a junior hockey team, thought it has been declined twice although a reference (a new article) was added.
Are you able to provide some insight into why as I can't seem to figure it out.
Thank you.

I have deleted this as requested, but I'm not entirely sure what you plan to do next? Were you intending to pass
- Ritchie333 Greetings to you and thank you for helping out. The Draft:Diana (musical) has no sources at the present stage to support and verify the contain claimed, as such it will remain in the draft space.
- I am grateful for your encouragement and also appreciate you would file the RfA for me. I have been a prolific editor and have contributed in different areas in Wikipedia; however, I think to some of the voters in RfA, my time in Wikipedia would deem not long enough for the request. I would take your support as the motivation to gain more experience for future opportunity in RfA. Thank you.
- Okay, I've had a quick look and I think the main problem you'll have is that you've tagged too many things for speedy deletion that have been declined, such as CSD G12 only applies if every revision of the article is a copyright violation; otherwise you can simply revert back to an earlier version. Since all these declined speedies have come up in the past few weeks, I don't think an RfA is appropriate at this time. However, I don't really see a problem elsewhere, and provided we can see about 6-9 months of good, responsible CSD tagging, I think we might be in a position to revisit this. NPR Newsletter No.17
Hello Cassiopeia,
- News
- The WMF has announced that Google Translate is now available for translating articles through the WP:TFOLWP.
- Discussions of interest
- Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
- {{)
- A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
- Reminders
- NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
- NPP Tools Report
- Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
- copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
- The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

- When you use rollback you will be able to get a confirmation prompt on most wikis. It asks you if you wanted to do the rollback. This is to avoid misclicks. You will have to opt in to get it. On German Wikipedia it will be an opt-out feature from 28 March. [1][2]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 19 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 20 March. It will be on all wikis from 21 March (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 20 March at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Admins will be able to block someone from editing a page or a namespace. This already works on a few Wikimedia wikis. You can read more. If your wiki wants to be an early tester of this, you can tell the developers. [3]
- Toolforge will shut down the Ubuntu Trusty job grid. This will happen the week of 25 March. Tools that use this grid needs to be moved to the new Debian Stretch job grid. If they haven't, they will be taken offline. Maintainers can restart the tools later. Users may not be able to use them in the meanwhile. You can see a list of affected tools.

I added some references to this page. However, I did not mean to create a full page - all I meant was to create a stub so that it can be linked from other pages that I work on. There are many other stubs on living people. Now that I have added references, can it be returned to the main space? --Erel Segal (talk) 15:24, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

1984–85 Rothmans Four-Nations Cup (Sharjah cricket)
I note you have moved the page on 1984–85 Four-Nations Cup into a draft, citing a lack of reliable, independent sources.
The original article has links to four sources: Cricket Archive,
I had hoped that these would be sufficient sources. I would greatly appreciate your guidance as to what other sources I should add, and furthermore what process I should follow, to move this page out of draft and back into the main body of Wikipedia. Marplesmustgo (talk) 23:05, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
- There appears to be a real problem here in that you have misinterpreted the four sources provided.
- 1) The “one inline citation which the link leads back to the article itself” is the link at the top of the page which goes to the reference list; this is a link to a book written by Bill Frindall.
- 2) The second source appears to be to http://cricketarchive.com/subscribe which you claim makes no mention of this tournament, but the link is in fact to https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Events/2/Rothmans_Four-Nations_Cup_1984-85.html which does.
- 3) The third source (http://www.espncricinfo.com/c/engine/series/60851.html) you claim is a “routine report” but a routine report is still a relevant source.
- 4) You call this source, source #4 (http://www.espncricinfo.com/wisdenalmanack/content/story/150564.html) good.
- This is still four relevant sources. Marplesmustgo (talk) 23:53, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
- Marplesmustgo, See below
- Pls rework on the link on ref one instead of link back to the article itself. Do note the section of the book ( as well as all other sources) need to talk "directly' about the subject in depth and in length to qualify as a source and not merely passing mentioned.
- Source need subcription - for such can verify content claimed as per source
- Routine report can use to contribute to the notability of the subject, just merely demonstrate they existed
- this is good.
- Marplesmustgo, See below
- You need at least 2 more independent, reliable sources and pls re-read the type of sources and what guidelines as I have mentioned on my previous message above. click on the blue highlighted text for further detail info. thank you and let me know what else I could help.
- In response to your arrogant comment on my talkpage let's have a go at this:
(1) You claim to have knowledge of cricket but do not seem to understand a book by Bill Frindall, the Bearded Wonder, is clearly an independent and reliable source. You seem to reject this source because the link I provide in this article is "a link back to the article itself". It is not a link back to the article except insofar as it is a link to the bibliography. The Frindall book is clearly a link to an independent source - indeed the Frindall book on ODIs is *the* standard source on ODIs before 1997. (2) The link is to CricketArchive which you appear to need a subscription to. This does not make the source an illegitimate source. You can avoid the paywall by using archive.org Even if you do not avoid the paywall a source is a source. (3) Cricinfo is not a "routine report", it is a plain independent source for this. (4) The source given is a literal lifting of the relevant Wisden. on the subject.
All four of these are plain independent & separate sources and nothing more is needed - as proved by those administrators who have taken the article back out of draft into Wikipedia. In future I do not want you trying to veto articles I create on ODIs just because you do not have access to the standard sources on the subject. Any more of this and I will report you as a disruptive user.Marplesmustgo (talk) 23:44, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Hello! References added to these articles.--Oleg Bor (talk) 08:06, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi WP:PROVEIT. You are welcome to add them back provided they are supported by independent, reliable source. I have also added "Referenes" section with reflist tag. Pls do not put references in External link section.

Video tutorial "Referencing with VisualEditor" – newsletter issue 2 short version
Hi! The full version of this newsletter issue has a lot of information. I am sending a short version to talk pages.
The most important information to know is that draft 2 is finished, that the single long script has been divided into many smaller scripts, and that portions of the script have been prioritized for production.
Due to budget constraints, not all scripts can be produced within the scope of the current pilot grant, but the other scripts will remain available for potential future production. (This project feels somewhat like doing a vehicle repair when the mechanic starts to work on the engine, and once the mechanic gets under the engine and starts to work, they discover that accomplishing their objective requires twice as much time as they first had estimated.) However, nothing is lost, so do not fear. Overall, my assessment (me being User:Pine) is that this project is producing a lot of good output and is generally a valuable pilot project.
For more information, including my requests for your feedback, please see the full version of the newsletter.
Thanks very much. --Pine(✉) 23:02, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

- The new version of the content translation tool will be used for all new translations. The older version will still be used for translations that were started with it. Most users won’t see any change. More than 80% of the published translations are already using the new version. [6]
Problems
- There was a problem with editing with Safari on iOS. When you wrote an edit summary you couldn't save the edit. This has now been fixed. [7]
- The editing toolbar sometimes disappears when you scroll on iOS devices. This will be fixed soon. [8]
- Wikis can over-ride interface messages on-wiki. A problem meant that sometimes an old versions of any changed messages were shown instead. This included the sitenotice and other important parts of the interface. This was fixed at around 2019-03-22 16:00 (UTC). Logged-out users may still get the wrong message. Purging the page should fix it for them. [9]

Angellore new album news source
- Dear Cassiopea, your work on wiki articles credibility checking is really important and much appreciated. It's just the very first time I've ever had any source credibility issues with posting a tiny update about a doom metal band known by very few people, especially considering that I mentioned the source (the band's Facebook page) in the comment to the article update. Here you go, the link to the source https://www.facebook.com/AngelloreDoom/posts/2034522126631986?__xts__%5B0%5D=68.ARDNxetIRjDUHQSsrAtHcjiSS4eGRv0PhWuu_mE36CK-A9A2cgMczBqVqHKZPKGLuOApfAXKsfoFjeFRVZtKeCmzWRyXdxw1sU-Po_bwC6xKiZTjr4-1GY9CY5g0NwcLygnExELgYjBDe5Fmm5jGx7VHS3DQ99EkrEoEzmDqGx4KFCLJehdMKLpdeHh0jC1F2ThDJsuEJs24x9OnTUhzfU5LSxS51tIqm87SVZLK3Q4feK9avyabYnRQfrn611sRsBoXssTaFaMfNmbYdQetq5GuzpWw5BOLu8k6nbf5OtNlBA5lgCVMqqFd0q70-DnU-poMn5rGk_mlTmubogbyZA&__tn__=-R

Updating the Israel Festival entry
Dear Cassiopea,
I have indeed just updated the Israel Festival site. My name is Eyal Sher and I am the director of the Festival. I have included the previous information that Wikipedia had about the Festival, added some missing information to it, and expanded it as it was a very old and limited entry. Please refer to the Festival's website to confirm my identity and reliability. Can you please repost what you have removed? Thank you for your consideration.

- Dear Cassiopea,
- I understand your view that as the Festival Director I would be considered in possible conflict of interest but this is not a business or a personal glorification case, rather a service to the community. Kindly review the essence of the text to consider its objective, informative and factual validity. What better more reliable source than the person in charge of this outfit?
- Please note that whatever version you reverted to seems to be worse than the one I corrected and upgarded.

Hello again,
I fully appreciate that factual validation process set forth by Wikipedia. Alas, I am one of these occasional, rather single entry contributors, so my familiarity with the procedure is null. I appreciate your offer to assist. If I can refer you once again to the festival site and in it to the dozens of articles, reviews and of course actual artistic lineup of the most recent festival as well as several others, I think that's the kind of source information that you are seeking.
Thank you again, Eyal — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.109.241.96 (talk) 16:27, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

- Hi
Hi, you have been moving several football pages to the draft space. I would appreciate if you could do the same for 2019–20 Eredivisie. Personally I think it would be even better to delete all those pages. --Sb008 (talk) 10:48, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi
- Hi, I understand little of your reply. If you really had a good look at the recent history, you had seen I'm one of the major contributors to the Eredivisie pages in recent years. Actually, I'm the one who corrects all the mistakes of others (in general on Sundays). So I really don't understand why you start explaining me about it being a professional league and it's history. The page as is, is a disgrace. It's full with mistakes and information which is not certain at all. Some examples:
- The season will not start on August 9, but on August 2.
- The KNVB publishes each season a new document with season rules. So the reference to the 18/19 season document is invalid.
- There're are so far 2 teams listed. Ajax and PSV. For PSV it's fair to assume the coach and captain of the team will remain unchanged. On the other hand, for Ajax the odds indicate it to be far from certain.
- Of course, appropriate references will occur in time. But till that time the page shouldn't be an exercise page for people who otherwise don't contribute at all to Eredivisie pages. Almost 30 edits so far and still no valid/reliable info on the page. --Sb008 (talk) 20:35, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

- Hi
- To be honest, the article has a zero chance to be deleted, and if it gets moved to draft another one will be created at the same place in no time, and then we have issues with copyright. I would suggest if there are obvious flaws just to comment them out. For this topic, even a placeholder is better than a redlink or a redirect.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:32, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

- Hi
@Ymblanter: This is one of the worst arguments I've ever heard. What you're basically saying is; "We don't remove crap because if we do it's most likely replaced by new crap in no time". The implication is that we no longer can trust any article on Wikipedia, since we don't know if it's there because of the "crap by crap replacement" criteria or whether it contains factual data. If we have to comment out what is incorrect or not certain, there will be little left. --Sb008 (talk) 13:28, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- That's right, we can not trust every single word on what is written on Wikipedia. I never do, I always check facts. I have seen however that you have nominated the article for deletion. Good luck with that, may be the result would be surprising for you. Or may be for me.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:35, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ymblanter: I wonder why you bother to check for facts when you consider it perfectly fine to keep nonfactual information only because it will be replaced by new nonfactual info when removed. We agree that not all data can be trusted, but we differ about what to do about non factual data. You approve of it where I don't. --Sb008 (talk) 17:58, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- I do not think this is what I said. It is not ok to keep wrong info. But you refused to remove, update, or comment it out, and instead you have chosen to nominate the article for deletion, and this wrong info is going to stay there for at least a week - unless of course somebody would care to remove, update, or comment it out.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:22, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
