Hello!

Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.

  • Pick an image name.
When uploading an image, pick a file name that is short, descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
  • Source the image.
On the
image description page
, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
  • Provide copyright and license information.
This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like
NoRightsReserved
}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another
fair use
, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
  • Describe the image.
To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

Autopia

I had to remove your edits in the Tomorrowland section of the Disneyland artice for two reasons: 1) Autopia is the attraction's name, not Autotopia; and 2) it remains open to this day. --

Thanks for putting in those dates. I was trying to find them myself, but had no luck. I wonder what this means for the Zoomracks issue? Maury 21:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I am sure of the source. I am holding a photocopy of the article that my father sent me. He lives in Paradise California and receives the printed paper twice a week. I checked the Paradise Post website before I posted and yes, you are correct, it is not there. But it WAS in the print edition. (They have very little copy ever online compared to print.) Please restore my contribution. Danallen46 (talk) 20:57, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will do gladly do so right now, although I'm going to trim it down to just his liking of motorcycles and the tour, as his lunch experience is not appropriate for the encyclopedia. If you can, please go back to the article and change the reference to one using {{cite news}}. If you look at the page Template:Cite news, this will give you a list of parameters that you can include, such as author, date of publication, etc. You don't need to use most of the parameters, but filling in as much as you have (especially title, author's names, newspaper, publisher, date, even page if you can tell) will help readers understand you're referring specifically to the print edition, as well as give them all of the necessary info to look up the info. I should say one final caveat--I can imagine someone else coming in to the article and further stripping the info (possibly just adding "motorcycles" to his list of interests); if so, it will be up to a talk page discussion to consider how much weight to give this particular hobby. Continous settlements of the Bremen region

Jahrtausend v. Chr. finden sich bei ..... Rekum [1] and many other sources.

I do not doubt Bremen is old. The problem was that you wrote 4000 AD. In English 4000 AD is some 1989 years in the future! So I changed 4000 AD to read 4000 BC, which is what your references appear to say. (BTW, I have been to Frankfurt many times and love it there! I was just there in Sept 2011.)

File permission problem with File:Lime, Oregon cement plant from I-84 2018-07-07.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Lime, Oregon cement plant from I-84 2018-07-07.jpg, which you've attributed to Andrew K. Allen. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:48, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion pending for File:Lime, Oregon cement plant from I-84 2018-07-07.jpg

Hello, Danallen46. Some time ago, a file you uploaded —

OTRS received
}}, indicating that a statement of permission had been received by permissions-en@wikimedia.org, but that this email was insufficient in some way

This could be due to any of several issues:

  1. The OTRS agent might have asked for further information to validate the ticket, but no follow-up reply was received (this is the most common reason).
  2. The license submitted might not have provided an acceptable free content license. (Statements of permission that allow only usage on Wikipedia or only non-commercial usage are NOT sufficient.)
  3. The person who submitted the statement of permission might not be the copyright holder or might not have been able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the OTRS agent that they own the copyright.

Due to privacy reasons, we cannot comment on Wikipedia with the exact reason that the ticket could not be processed.

  • If YOU submitted the ticket to the permissions address, please search your email for a reply with the ticket ID - a reply was sent some time ago requesting more information or further actions needed to confirm permission. Please reply to that message.
  • If the copyright holder (not you) submitted the ticket, then that person received a response (which may have been some time ago). Please ask them to follow up.

If another message is sent to [email protected] and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org that resolves the problem, please let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 12:19, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
