Linking to categories

Hiya! Hope you're finding your way around Wikipedia! :D

I just dropped you a line to let you know that when you link to a category (like, type [[Category:Editor handbook]] like on your userpage, it not only links you to the category, but it puts your page into that category! ... really!

Don't worry, I corrected it for you! In the future, if you want to simply link to a category (like Editor handbook) just prefix the name of the category with a colon, like this: [[:Category:Editor handbook]] which results in a link that looks like this: Category:Editor handbook. Hope that helps, and if you run into any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Whoops, sorry about that. Thanks for fixing it.

DE9 and 25 pin connectors

Hello,

I am planning to manually convert your very informative DE9 and 25 pin images to SVG and then add them to the RS232 article. However, can I suggest that you take a look at Inkscape, Xara extreme or similar, which will allow you to write to SVG. A vector graphics editor without SVG support is kinda useless on wiki (and to some extent at large), and just means more work to convert it to a good format.

Looking forward to more nice SVGs from yourself! Regards User A1 (talk) 00:46, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well mayboe not the 25 pin version - someone already did that. User A1 (talk) 01:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and converted the DB-9 to svg for you :) Here's a link to it: Image:DE9 D-subminiature RS-232 pinout.svg -- Gargan26 (talk) 18:44, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Woodstock poster.jpg)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
