either re-license the image or remove it from your userspace as FU images can only be used in the mainspace.

Hello DarthRahn

I would like to say that when a bot placed {{Orphaned fairuse not replaced|month=May|day=9|year=2007}} on your talk page because the image that you uploaded (header2) was not free, I was surprised as you had licensed the image under GFDL and so it had to be free. I have removed the bot's template - that said that the image would be deleted and I will contact the bot's owner...

Cheers,

they got confused with my orphan tag as they did not check the history for the Fairuse tag. The image is fine now.

"Vandalism" on Dota Allstars

Oh, I apologize, I should've cited my sources. If you are referring to the "Guinsoo claimed credit" bit, I swear I remember reading that in a quest log in one of the older versions. Alas, my old computer is elsewhere right now and I can't quote it exactly, but I do remember there being a little part where Guinsoo says something about him doing the map all by himself as an original idea. I remember because it offended me when I read it because Eul's name appeared nowhere on the map or in the credits. At least Eul is mentioned in the Wikipedia article; I'll accept the revert since I can't find something to cite. ZenSaohu 17:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: He does appear on the scepter, but in the quest logs or loading screen Eul is never mentioned. ZenSaohu 17:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because he is mentioned in quests menu, but as IceFrog says all code was created from scratch. And I tend to trust him as all others. —comment

I've been enough edit wars, so see the talk page. That image is outdated and not representative of how Zeratul looks now. If you know the procedure for it, upload his SCII art and use that. That pic is outdated by a decade. The Clawed One 00:13, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a problem, that fact is it is an outdated picture. It's like saying (http://www.dotontheweb.co.uk/original_simpsons.gif) is how the Simpsons look. That picture is inappropriate. The Clawed One 00:16, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Extremely important note about your signature

template substitution
by adding "subst:" directly before all of the templates' names (e.g.: "{{subst:CURRENTTIME}}").

Using CURRENTTIME (and others) causes the timestamp to be updated continually on every page view to the time that the page is viewed, thus negating page caching. That means every time someone views your comment, it shows the current time-- no matter when you left it originally. This is misleading, as timestamps are added not to show everyone what time it is on wikipedia, but to show when a comment/contribution was added originally. Please test out the difference between the output of "~~~~" (with your custom timestamp disabled) and "~~~~" (with your custom timestamp enabled) to see what I'm talking about. Also experiment with the difference between using "subst:" and not.

Don't fret, though, as this is an easy mistake to make (it took me some time to figure out

substitution as well). However, it is fairly important that before making further contributions that would use the current version of your signature, you either change or disable your custom signature for now. This can be done by simply going to "my preferences" -> "user profile" -> "signature", unchecking the "raw signature" box, and replacing the "signature" field with your user name ("DarthRahn"). You will then have a signature that is returned to its default state with an automatic timestamp when using "~~~~" to sign your posts. If you run across any problems, feel free to drop me a line. --slakrtalk / 21:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply
]

That seems to be strange, indeed some bots for some reason tend to outdate my signature. However I currently use <small>--- </small><font color="blue">'''DarthRahn'''([[User:DarthRahn|'''u''']]/[[User_talk:DarthRahn|'''t''']]\[[Special:Contributions/DarthRahn|'''c''']])</font> {{subst:Time}} . I can not see anything wrong really since {{subst:Time}} works pretty well, but 03:38</nowiki> only shows the time, but not the month and year, etc. --- DarthRahn(u/t\c) 14:04, April 27, 2024 (UTC)
Substitution isn't recursive, so substituting {{time}} outputs, "{{CURRENTTIME}}, [[{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}]], [[{{CURRENTYEAR}}]] ([[Coordinated Universal Time|UTC]]) ," which still results in transclusion of CURRENTTIME, CURRENTMONTHNAME, CURRENTDAY, and CURRENTYEAR. You would thus need, instead of using {{time}}, to rather use the raw source of time, and use template substitution on each individual aspect of it (like {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}). Either way, you should no doubt already realize that your signature will reflect the current wikipedia time-- no matter when you left it. See for yourself: look at the timestamp of your comment directly preceding this one. Then compare it to the timestamp of when you actually added it (i.e., look at the page history). You'll notice that they don't match. Thus, I repeat: please change your signature as soon as possible to avoid further issues. --slakrtalk / 17:00, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit reversion

Hello,

Yesterday, I made a post about Dota Allstars listing the Heroes and Items available in the game, as well as crediting the developers who made them.

You reverted my post stating, "Reverting everything. Not need to list heroes/items again, we removed them in previous revisions. This is not encyclopedic in all ways."

I would just like some clarifications on a couple of things:

-Why would a list of heroes and items be irrelevant just because it was deleted before? May I know the reason why it was previously deleted? I feel that many DotA players(myself included) are curious to know who created what hero and item; which is why I researched who created what and when.

-Please clarify what you mean by "not encyclopedic in all ways". If there is something that I can do to revise the post to make it "encyclopedic", please let me know so that i can edit the post and put it up.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your feedback —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mejai (talkcontribs) 19:40, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was deleted long ago, very long ago because of non notability. Wikipedia is not a game guide, peoples come here to read about the game itself, not about items and strategy. Also if you wanna start working with wikipedia you should start at least here. --- DarthRahn(u/t\c) 21:51, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to disagree with your statement that players come to read about the game itself, not about items and strategy. But rather than argue that point, I will make the point that what makes DotA so different and compelling from other games is the large selection of Heroes and items it has. One can easily make the point that DotA's incredible selection of heroes and items is what MAKES the game. So my question is: how can you really try to explain the game and its experience without talking about the things that make it so unique? On a different note, I will make the point again that many players (myself included) are curious about the developers of the game (and their contributions). To that end, I have performed factual research into the builds of the game to create a comprehensive list of who made what. If, as you say, "peoples come here to read about the game itself", wouldn't they also want to know who created the game and what they did? It's like trying to talk about Apple and barely mentioning Steve Jobs, or Microsoft with Bill Gates. For DotA, the LARGEST part of its developments came from its stewards and their personal tastes; why are you cutting them out? Mejai(talkcontribs) 03:25, 28 September 2007
I gave you link? These are not my rules, but wikipedia rules. --- DarthRahn(u/t\c) 15:35, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A note regarding the image and, specifically, the template change that Zscout370 applied:
