Recent changes
- WebM video files have smaller file size but still be of the same quality. Creating WebM files will take longer time. [3]
- The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. This was supposed to already have happened but was delayed. For most wikis this will happen on 9 July. For the rest it will happen on 16 July. [4]
- All wikis now use the Remex parsing library instead of Tidy. This could cause errors. You can help fix the errors. [5]
Problems
- When you rolled back an edit it could get both the
RollbackandUndotags. This has been fixed. [6] - Rollbacks from autopatrolled users were not marked as patrolled. This has been fixed. [7]
Changes later this week
- When you edit a link in the visual editor there will be two separate buttons to change which page the link goes to (target) or its text (label). [8][9]
- On the mobile version you can find a link to an editor's contributions from their user page. Now this will work even if they haven't created a user page. [10]
- When you edit a discussion on the mobile version you sometimes get your signature automatically added. This will now not happen if you have already added a signature manually. This is to avoid double signatures. [11]
- Structured discussions toolbars will have more style options. [12]
- When you look at Wikimedia code in Gerrit there will be a new interface. It is on by default for new users. This is also true for developers. This is to make it easier to understand what is happening. [13]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 10 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 11 July. It will be on all wikis from 12 July (calendar).

Future changes
- Today all administrators can edit CSS and JavaScript for the entire wiki. There will be a new user group for editing CSS and JavaScript. Administrators will no longer automatically be able to do this. This is because it is a security risk when all administrator accounts can edit JavaScript even if they never plan to or do not know how it works. You can read more. [14]
- Page previews will be on by default for new accounts. [15]

- When you log in to your account you can choose to keep being logged in. This checkbox now works better than before on the mobile version for users without JavaScript. [20]
- Wikis that use Swedish public service radio. More will come. Others could use this to add news sites in other languages in the future. [21]
- Editors can do max 90 edits per minute. This is new since last month. This does not affect bots or administrators. [22]

- After a community discussion, a new group for users will be created. Hi, thanks for message. Apologies for the YFA and COI tags, you will appreciate that most such promo articles are written by company hacks, so I tend to add those comments as a matter of course. G11 deletion doesn't seem like an appropriate step for an article about a company of this size.—The size or notability of a company does not exempt it from G11.
I deleted your article because
- it did not provide promotional in structure and tone, and Onel5969was correct to tag for G11.
- I don't know if you are aware that the notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated to reduce company spamming. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
- significant coverage in
- independent,
- multiple,
- reliable,
- secondary sources.
- Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability. I don't think most of your refs meet those criteria. It helps to show notability if you include hard verifiable facts such as the number of employees, turnover or profits, but apart from a bit of history, we know nothing (although employee numbers are in the infobox). It's worrying when facts such as employee numbers and the company headquarters are relegated to an infobox, while most of the article consists of plugs for their products.
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find
The fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See

- Hi @Jimfbleak: I created the article through a transfer of content from Netgear, as Arlo is now a separate legal entity. As a one day old company, it is hard to find many reliable secondary sources regarding the company. I only performed the split, so the products section was not written by myself. I agree that deleting that section might be the best course of action. If you don't believe that Arlo meets notability guidelines, should a reverse merger be performed into the Netgear article? It just seems kind of weird for a NYSE listed company to be housed in an article relating to another company; however, Netgear has still retained 86% ownership of Arlo. Thoughts? - Perhaps it's WP:Too soon? The real issue, though is the product list. I think if that goes, so does most of the G11 issue. If stuff that we already know, like its headquarters and staffing, appears in the text as well as the infobox, that will also make it look more balanced, and any other issues can be dealt with if they arise. - No assurance I gave would be binding on other admins who might take a different view. The fact remains, as I said before, that this is basically a product list with unsourced claims like can last up to an entire year based on normal usage. Users also have the option to connect with their existing door chimes without needing to install any additional hardware or wiring. Each product is given its own separate section, but with no indication of why that product is notable. Still nothing in text about the company itself, no financials, staffing etc. You need to make up your mind whether to write an encyclopaedic article about the company, which might survive, or to produce what is in effect a sales list lacking only prices, which won't Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:14, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Jimfbleak: Sorry for the delay, I've been on vacation for the last few weeks. I've removed all of the products, aside from the company's flagship security camera, which has sold in excess of 100K units. All of the other products revolve around that one, so I have condensed the other products down to one sentence. Welcome to the first newsletter for the new Growth team!
The Growth Team's objective is to work on software changes that help retain new contributors in mid-size Wikimedia projects. We will be starting with Wikipedias, but we hope these changes will benefit every community.

We are considering new features to build, that could retain new editors in mid-size Wikipedias. We will be testing new ideas in Czech and Korean Wikipedias, and then we'll talk to more communities (yours!) about adopting the ideas that work well.

The old variables will still work but filter editors are encouraged to replace them with the new ones. You can find the list of changed variables on mediawiki.org. They have a note which says
Deprecated. Use ... instead. An example isarticle_textwhich is nowpage_title. [39] - Abuse filters can now use how old a page is. The variable is
page_age. [40] - The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 28 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 29 August. It will be on all wikis from 30 August (calendar).
