Wikitionary?
hey, anyone coming here, if you know where i can find a wiki dictionary for english and/or spanish I'd be much obliged for the linkage... thanks!
- There is not such beast as far as I know. There's been talk of starting a "Wikitionary", but no one's actually done yet. --Stephen Gilbert 15:26 Oct 1, 2002 (UTC)

That would be an interesting sister project but as Stephen says none yet exists. --
Well, I guess we'll have to keep looking or write a grant to get server space and an administrator to keep it running...

Hi Dennis - re getting rid of vandalism: the easiest way is to bring up the edit history of the page in question, then view the last non-vandalised version of the page, and then click "edit this page". You can then save the old, non-vandalised, version without making any changes. Hope that makes sense (and helps). --Camembert
Hello, I just wanted to drop a note to let you know that there's a film & tv list serv at http://www.nupedia.com/mailman/listinfo/filmtv-l if you'd care to join. We (Zoe and Danny and Eclecticology & I) are using it periodically for fact-checking, etc. amongst each other. I notice you're interested in film. :-) --KQ
Hello. When you create a page, could you begin with a complete sentence rather than a dictionary-style definition, and highlight the title word or title phrase at its first appearance, like this. Thanks. Michael Hardy 00:35 5 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Also, please link more, even if the articles aren't there. It's silly to say how important a public library is to adult education but link to neither. The standard here is for heavy interlinkage. A printable version of each article is available for those who don't like the underlining everywhere. Thanks. EofT
And, please avoid plurals in titles, like

The above nitpicking aside, your contributions are much appreciated and I hope you keep it up. Great work all 'round. Three issues you could help with:
- Persuasion technology needs to be better related to educational technology, positive uses of persuasion in education outlined, and etc. - also you might need a cure for your UML habit. ;-) We all get over it eventually.
- List of ethics topics needs rounding out, can you add the articles on ethics issues in education? A list of education ethics topics or just an education ethics or ethics in educationarticle would do just as well.
- There is not enough attention paid to English as a Second Language users. Is Basic English or some other defining vocabularyconsidered to be standard for pedagogical purposes?
I know I'll think of something more as soon as I hit "save"... hm. EofT
Dennis, do you think your new entry The History of the Standard Oil Company might be copy vio? Also, do you propose to do something like we already have at Standard Oil or concentrate on just one of the various companies with Standard Oil in the name? Moriori 00:31, Apr 9, 2004 (UTC)

Homeschooling project
Hello, My name Master Scott Hall (you can call me Scott). I am relatively new contributing to Wikipedia, though I have been a user of it for some time. I am currently soliciting for interest in a Wikiproject that I have proposed on the subject of homeschooling. Before finding Wikipedia, my wife and I were seriously considering, but not quite convinced, to home educate our children.
After discovering the depth, scope, and long-term goals of Wikipedia, as well as the individuals driving it, I am convinced that WP has the potential to revolutionize homeschooling. I am also convinced that home education is the right choice for my family. I have, however, been somewhat discouraged by the oversight of home education in most of the education related projects on WP. There are many potential reasons for this discrepency, but I have resolved to try to do something about it.
Although I personally have very limited experience in building complex Wikiprojects, -templates, -portals, etc., I am confident that the right team can be assembled to tackle these issues. I would like to invite you to join this effort to make Wikipedia the resource for the home education of our children. If you are interested, please visits the temporary project page I have set up. Thank you --Master Scott Hall 08:49, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
- Update: The proposed project on Homeschooling was met with a very positive response. As a result, the project has been ugraded to an official WikiProject and can be found at WikiProject Alternative education. We have several experienced Wikipedians on board, as well as some new faces. We still need contributors with backgrounds in education, education theory and philosophy, and specific alternative education methods, such as homeschooling, charter schools, and E-learning from both teacher and student perspectives. There is also a lack of quality resources regarding anti-alternative education issues. If are interested in contributing or just have an interest, please visit the project page, or if you prefer, ask us a question. Thank you again, Master Scott Hall 18:46, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Answer to your question

Perennial Plants
Hi, I have reverted a couple of your edits that added "and is a perennial" to woody plants, trees in fact. Certainly they are perennial, but the term "perennial" is use in practice as a short-hand for "herbaceous perennial", so it is much more interesting to note plants that are perennial but not obviously as long-lasting as trees. Best wishes, Nadiatalent (talk) 15:02, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Diagramming Tool
Hi Dennis, I noticed your question on the deleted Online_diagramming page, looking for a software that would allow you to work on diagrams like a wiki. At Creately we have such a tool and have it online as well as a plugin. And incidentally it also lets you upload your pics onto a larger digital map. Best of luck.
