"unhelpful to the progress of this discussion"

BS. The only thing unhelpful to he progress of the discussion is Thom-293's complete lack of knowledge of how the project works.—Ryulong (琉竜) 19:44, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HOly cow you even added in the HTML formatting instead of the Wikipedia formatting. How far did you go back?—Ryulong (琉竜) 19:48, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion now revolves around Tokyogirl79's analysis, so it'll be helpful to preserve the state of the article when she assessed it. I had a good laugh when I read "HOly cow". I reverted as far back as the edit which added the AfD nomination to the article. Deryck C. 20:02, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You could have at least just reverted back to the last version before I edited. But now I had to get rid of the unnecessary bolding of people's names in the events section.—Ryulong (琉竜) 20:50, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deryck,

Glad to hear the fair's going well - I'm actually working in Cambridge today and tomorrow, but as I'm staying home due to an unsightly injury, I think it's best I don't come down to help out! I'd scare everyone off...

I've recently listed another BL event at Wikipedia:Geonotice - would you be able to put this through for me? (As always, I'd prefer to avoid doing it myself).

Nina Power

I have counted 13 wikipedia pages where Nina Power is mentioned: her newspaper reviews, authored books, political campaigning. I did not weigh into the debates leading up to her page's deletion. I also see a French wikipedia page devoted to her, largely based on notable references in English. Obviously this is a matter for French wikipedia. But it seems to me there is case for rewriting a page. I feel I need hardly cite some of the many pages which fail the appropriate criteria far more decisively than her page did.Rachel0898 (talk) 21:28, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Forthcoming"

There's no tone of voice to tell me, so I'm not sure if your comment was congratulatory or sarcastic. Either way, it wasn't a big deal - I went to remove the out of date event, and in passing noted the Americanism. To be honest, I considered also changing "meetup", but left it in case that's standard WMUK language. --Dweller (talk) 10:27, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Zhu Jiang Delta

Hi, I've noticed you changed all the instances of

Zhu Jiang Delta in Manufacturing in Hong Kong to 'Pearl River Delta' 'to conform with common usage' (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Manufacturing_in_Hong_Kong&diff=469897549&oldid=469419630), but I'd like to dispute that. I'm not sure how the names were put when you were in school, but all modern geography textbooks use pinyin for geographical names in China (except districts of Hong Kong, of course). The curriculum and assessment guide for geography also primarily uses 'Zhujiang', though 'Pearl River' is put in brackets. Do you think it would be better to change it back? City vs. territory

[1] [2] I'm afraid the intro is supposed to be for the international audience. In common usage the word city may refer only to a built-up or a downtown area, instead of a whole metro or conurbation. And after all HK isn't a

the whole territory. 119.237.227.224 (talk) 14:27, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply
]

As mentioned, Hong Kong shouldn't be referred to be a city. It should be referred to as a territory. Further, English law specifically, namely, not other British law such as Scot law or old Welsh law, is in place in Hong Kong. Hong Kong wasn't just one village when the island was ceded by the Manchu Empire to the UK: Shau Kei Wan was its own village; Wong Chuk Hang was another, for instance. There were also many villages scattered all around other parts of the territory apart from the Hong Kong Island itself, such as, Tsim Sha Tsui, Lyemoon, Ng Tsin Wai, Ma Tau Wai, etc. Please don't undo all my edits in one go without any good reason. Comments like 'weird perspective' and 'make little sense' are simply meaningless and ridiculous. 116.49.147.176 (talk) 19:59, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please specify which edit. The diff you posted above is a broken link. You may also want to look at the rewritten sentence about population density ranking which was done immediately after your first post here on 24 January. Deryck C. 17:59, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure why you'd want to link to my latest edit. Okay :) Deryck C. 18:08, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The links have been fixed. As mentioned, the word 'city' is confusing to refer to the entirety of Hong Kong. Further, the area that constitutes modern HK (i.e., post-1898 HK) contained more than one village when British rule was established. The English legal system specifically, and not other British legal systems, is in place. 116.49.147.176 (talk) 15:10, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

哋 deih as an associative plural

Hi! I noticed you removed an edit of mine to the article on Cantonese grammar, which said that 哋 could be used as a suffix for proper nouns: On the other hand, 哋 dei6 may be added to a proper noun, meaning "X and their group/friends/family/company".

I took that from Virginia Yip and Stephen Matthews' books on Cantonese grammar. For example, in Cantonese: A Comprehensive Grammar (2nd ed.) they give the example Bóulòuh-deih (that is, Paul-哋) in page 97 meaning 'Paul and his family', 'Paul and his friends', 'Paul and his colleagues', 'etc.'.

I find it very interesting that you said this is simply not true. Is this perhaps because it's not used among relatively young people age anymore? (The authors are admittedly in their 50s or something...)--

Questions about adding "Garnet Capital Advisors" article

Hi,

I am trying to figure out the best way to go about having an organization, in this case Garnet Capital Advisors (which is mentioned in other Wikipedia articles such as "Loan Sale", "Mission Capital Advisors", etc. I feel as though it would be a great addition to Wikipedia and would like some advice as to best go about it because it seems as though doing it myself might create conflict of interest issues.
