Regarding the Wikipedia page: Lynching. I would very much like the description "extra-judicial punishment" changed to something more appropriate, indeed, more accurate like,
extra-judicial murder or, extra-judicial killing. Perhaps the term extra-judicial should be dispensed with completely. After all, extra-judicial is largely unnecessary, especially if the term of either killing or murder is employed.
I feel most strongly that punishment is a term which dilutes and muddies the pure horror and injustice of lynching. The term punishment conveys none of the finality of lynching. For younger people especially, maybe researching home work assignments, punishment is relative to being grounded (the lucky ones who are not beaten and/or abused themselves). I simply wish to fully convey, in the most proper way, the awful terror, the painful suffering, which lynchings imprinted upon the victim, their families, and friends. Those repercussions are still permeating down the decades - affecting people connected by family because - not only was the main periods of lynching not that long ago but, lynching's never actually stopped

Corrections
I fail to understand just why people feel the need to complain about corrections made to established pages which contain poor grammar. Whilst English is very much a progressive language, there are definite rights, and wrongs. It is ridiculous to leave mistakes on pages, simply because that is what the original writer intended. The Americans in particular, are mangling our beautiful language, with sheer stupidity. For example: Obligated - there is no such word. The correct word is: Obliged. Why should we not tell them so? In fact, the poison which is American television and cinema, is saturating the English speaking world (particularly those who are learning English) with the most arrogantly idiotic laziness which, when corrected, blithely state: Oh, that's American English. Those of us who know better, recognise 'American English' as an oxymoron. If this correction in favour of mistakes continues, I'll have no option but to leave Wikipedia. I daresay I shall not be missed. DieselEstate (talk) 16:58, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
