Please don't recreate that with first showing how he/you is notable. Please read Wikipedia:Notability . Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:06, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
You could work on it at User:Djba52/Sandbox and work on it there. I'll undelete it and move it there. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
That didn't work properly. Create the sandbox yourself and I'll paste the material in. Sorry. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Just click on the sandbox link and I'll put the material in. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Just click on it. Put in something like "HI" and save. Then I'll put in the deleted material. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:26, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
And the material is back. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:28, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
It's shouldn't. Only if you ask for it to be deleted or you put something in badmouthing the person without a source. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
No problem. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:33, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
What I think you really need to do with the article to gain more approval with members is make it less biased. By including words like "legendary" and "great", you're putting bias into the article, breaching the Neutral point of view policy on Wikipedia. I hope you're not discouraged from editing Wikipedia. I do see that you've found another user to help you, but I just thought I could help. Hey, it's no big deal. Basically, articles must be written in an unbiased manner. Instead of thinking of Wikipedia as a place to write prose/essays, think of it as a place to publish raw material. If you need more help, you know where to contact me! And all questions are welcome. — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:22, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Alright, here's a basic question that I hope you can answer me. When was Mr. Shively born? Was he also born in Hiawassee, Georgia ? — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
And that might be true, but I don't know, 'cause I don't follow sports much. Has he won any notable awards? — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
I don't know any awards. Whatever you can think of, I guess. Has he ever been in a newspaper or on the news? — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:34, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
There you go, then. Those seem like good things to put in there for notability. In the introduction, just say exactly what you said to me. Then, save it, and then tell them on the talk page the same thing. I know it can be confusing, but, in a nutshell, just put all the information of his notability as possible on there. Then, they will change their minds. The same happened with David Krae . I saved it from deletion, and I know you can do so with Jonathon Schively as well. — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:45, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to
talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should
sign your posts by typing four
tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the
Shift key , and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button
located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --

The good news is... if the article does get deleted, you can always ask an administrator to recover the text and put it in your userspace, where it's almost guaranteed that it won't get deleted. — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:47, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Oh, and please don't be too discouraged by this. This is just one incident, and after this, you'll probably have a better understanding of Wikipedia, so this shouldn't happen again. With new users, it's always rough. Trust me... I was a new user once (pretty much before December 2007, 'though I created my account back in June 2006). — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]

It looks pretty good. As to him being notable I'm not sure. Have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Athletes which might help a bit. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 15:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Just noticed that it's got the wrong football box. That one is for soccer players. I think you want ]
Congratulations, Djba52, you have been adopted by — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ . Please leave a message on my talk page if you want to be adopted by me. I would love to help you on your Jonathon Shively article. Happy editing! — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
As a little tidbit, articles do not need the first level section with one equal sign per side. That is because at the very top of the page, it already mentions the article's name in that format, so having two would be redundant. If and when the article passes notability for athletes and you do decide to move it into the mainspace, you will see what I mean. Cheers! — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Oh, alright. Just wanted to let you know, but, hey, if you know, then feel free to do so! Also, please make sure you always sign with four tildes (~~~~). This then creates your signature, which is very important because it lets me know who left the message on my talk page. — Cuyler 91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 21:02, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
