Cats

Hi Elias,

There are many places on the internet where you can write about your cat but I'm afraid that Wikipedia is not one of them. We do have a few articles about cats but they are all about notable (i.e. famous) cats that have been covered in books, newspapers and other reliable media. Your story about your own cat is not like that. Maybe you can post it somewhere else instead? Regards, --DanielRigal (talk) 22:07, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Let me explain

Hello, Elias! Welcome to Wikipedia. Please let me explain why all your articles keep getting deleted. The problem is, you do not understand what Wikipedia is. This is not a social media site like Facebook, where you can write about yourself and anything that interests you. This is an international encyclopedia. The only articles we have here are about things of general interest, things of importance to the world. We cannot write Wikipedia articles about ourselves or our families or our cats, things that are of importance to us but not to the world at large. If you want to do that kind of writing, I would suggest you use Facebook or start your own blog. If you want to participate here at Wikipedia, I would suggest you start by reading articles of interest to you - and if you find mistakes, grammar or spelling errors, that kind of thing, correct them. That way you will start to learn what Wikipedia is about, and if you enjoy it, become a volunteer Wikipedian like the rest of us who maintain this worldwide source of knowledge. If you have questions or comments, you can put them here; I will see them. --MelanieN (talk) 16:42, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
