=== Korea University ===

Recently I took a look at the wiki page for Korea University (고려대학교) and thereafter realized that the article needs some major retooling. It looks as though it was written by a public-relations person trying to advertise the university. For all I know that is who wrote it. It has a number of glowing statements that stink of POV and the vast majority are not sourced. Some are so subjective that they likely cannot be sourced. I left some comments on the page, tagged it as (advert) and (pov) and plan to wait about a week to see if anyone does anything useful to it. If not, and if no one suggests anything I will go through (especially the intro) and write a 'real' encyclopedia article on it. No more advert pamphlet. There are also some questionable English phrases that hopefully I can replace with something less stilted.Epthorn Epthorn 08:34, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately this particular topic has, of late, taken up much more of my time than anticipated. I am tempted to go towards

WP:FUCK but I don't like the idea. Epthorn 18:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply

=== Cary Swinney Page ===

I'm going to try my hand at creating a wiki page on a musician. Not sure if it is notable or not, but since no one has created one yet it will give me a chance to try.

=== BFV page ===

I took a look at the Bradley Fighting Vehicle page and think it would be helped with some added information about the rather contentious testing and related congressional action that took place regarding it. I may or may not be able to really do much about it right now since I don't have access to all the sources I normally would in English, but if possible I want to expand it.

Patriotmissile

Thanks for the heads up over the Sungkyunkwan University page. That user's edits seemed to be based on nothing more than inter-university warring between rival student groups. JPBarrass 01:02, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem- I think the arguments that were occurring have cooled off, so hopefully everything will improve and the articles can be looked at by neutral parties. I think a lot of these pages could use some care to make them a little less like adverts. I'm not trying to get people to gang up on Patriotmissile because I think he was worried I was trying to attack the KU page, so he got a bit... defensive. Epthorn 01:59, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is interesting that you guys have shared a wrong idea. The revision on Sungkyunkwan university is clearly nothing to do with Epthorn's claim. How coul you possibly judge one's mind other than yours? I clearly provided references for those revisions. Please don't harm on me. That's clearly a violation of Wikirules.Patriotmissile 14:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prod on Schools

I'm the one prodding, not deprodding, schools. It's a mini-project of mine. But high schools win AfD nearly all the time. So let's stick to prodding grade schools, AfDing or prodding middle schools and junior highs, and leave the high schools alone. SolidPlaid 05:21, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is a well developed consensus that primary schools are so completely non-notable that they shouldn't even be brought to AfD until prodding and redirecting to their school district page hasn't worked. I personally don't even want a redirect to survive, so let's prod away. SolidPlaid 05:28, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(oopsEpthorn 05:33, 10 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Are you planning on AfD'ing that whole list of them? If so, just wanted to make sure you knew about
group afd's. - Rjd0060 06:07, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply
]
OK. I've definitely been in your position doing that. It is a lot of work, and it sucks that the PROD's were removed from all of those, since they are going to be deleted via AFD anyways. - Rjd0060 06:11, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just another question. I see you are tagging them all for AfD but are you going to start the deletion discussion pages? -Rjd0060 06:43, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, yes I plan to. I am not finished tagging them all quite yet- as soon as I do, I will create the page
so that people don't start before I actually have everything collated there. Some seem to have been tagged by other people, and some seem to still be prod...ed(?) but I should be done with the rest soon. Epthorn 06:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good work! I made a couple changes to the AfD though:

  1. - I removed my talk page which was somehow added to the nomination.
  2. - I cleaned up the group list and added the appropriate AfD links.
  3. - And of course I left my comment.

Again, nice work!! - Rjd0060 15:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The scary part is, some people already commented and didn't even notice that my talk page was in there! Guess they aren't doing the AfD the way it was intended, and that is look at each page in a group nom. before making a decision for all of them. - Rjd0060 15:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Unfortunately. I think they all need to go though. - Rjd0060 19:43, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yahoo vs. google

Hi; I got your note on "The REAL Rudy" and your yahoo search. Google is more reliable and more precise. So, my first recommendation would be to first look ath those searches. I entered <real rudy> and got many results. Dogru144 (talk) 19:13, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't doing a search for numbers- it doesn't matter how many 'google hits' there are. I was saying that the link used in the article was dead, and no longer linked to a real page. I have found the original blog entry, however, and corrected the link. This might not stand for notability by itself (the only reason those other viral videos are on WP are because they were covered in journals, newspapers and in the news, not just blogs). But anyway, yeah, the link's working now so... nevermind. Epthorn (talk) 14:38, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Help with delete format

Glad it was fixed for you. Anyways, in the future, it might help you if you had a user script, such as

Twinkle. Using that, helps do a lot of things including setting up AfD's. With Twinkle, if you want to nominate a page for AfD, you just click the "XFD" tab (it will appear along the top if you use twinkle), select "AFD" from the dropdown menu, type in a reason, and Twinkle does the rest by itself. - Rjd0060 (talk) 15:09, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply

It is very simple to set up. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. - Rjd0060 (talk) 15:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh... thanks, and I have absolutely no idea how that happened. I was trying to be careful. Epthorn (talk) 16:27, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. On a busy thread I find it helps to write your message, copy it, then refresh the screen before pasting it and hitting save (greatly reduces the chance of an edit conflict).

IP vs. Suffrage

I think its just that the bot operator who checks for suffrage doesn't always login before making edits. Irritating, really. I'm told I didn't have the required number of *mainspace* edits before November 1st. There has been some discussion on the vote related talk pages about why article talk pages and Wikipedia/Wikipedia talk was excluded (an error in my view).
