Hi. Thanks for the kind note on my
Party names
Please do not delete the redirect pages of party names. It is the English name of a party name that usually is not translated into English. Since it is an encyclopedia in the English language, and considering the naming convention, it makes sense to have also a entry under the English translation of the name. Since the naming conventions do prefere the article name of the future article to be in the original language, I created only a redirect page.
Thanks for the reminder. Actually the article was one that I cleaned up after someone else created it, but then it must have been listed as a copyvio. I think it's important enough as a book to be on Wikipedia so I'm going to rewrite the article to avoid copyright violation. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 13:39, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Pre-emptive redirects are important
- Hi! As part of the Wiki Syntax cleanup effort, I came upon a redirect from Self energy to Self-energy, which you put up last month. Since the target does not currently exist, that redirect would normally be deleted, but there are a couple of articles linking to it.
I find it alarming to hear it suggested that if the target of a redirect does not exist and no articles link to it, then it should be routinely deleted in a "clean-up". On many occasaions I have created such pre-emptive redirects and I consider them important. Michael Hardy 20:37, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I unprotected Wikipedia:WikiProject_Wiki_Syntax/redirect-target-000.txt, with the following clarification: 'Page was protected for a reason not covered by Protection policy. Besides, "Do not protect a page you are involved in an edit dispute over".' This means that I will not involve myself in this further, in accordance with the Protection policy.
Re: Mount Lovcen
The mountain is indeed called Lovćen. The prefix "Mount " is an anglicism. This is one of the many articles where the ISO 8859-2 diacritic in the title has to be dropped to match the English Wikipedia's technical restrictions and English language customs (most other English publications have the same restriction so they drop the diacritic). I'll also move it to just "Lovcen" because that's sufficient. We had an article already there but it was removed as a copyright violation. --Joy [shallot] 18:44, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the note re ALCO PA
I've gone and created an ALCO PA article. It needs more info and some references, of course, but it's a beginning. —Morven 21:54, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)
Hardy and redirects
If I may, he was the one who brought this to my user talk page. I'd rather have left this on said discussion pages, but once he brought it to my user page, I had to respond or potentially risk being labelled as "unwilling to discuss". I do not know if Mr. Hardy would do such a thing, but others have done so in the past. I also think we've got two blunt people butting heads here (myself and Mr. Hardy), so it probably appears more harsh than it is. -- Cyrius|✎ 22:42, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry for being intrusive, then. I was afraid that a technical disagreement was slowly degenerating into a personal argument, and I'd hate to be the one responsible for such a thing. Feel free to resume said head-butting. :) --Fbriere 22:47, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hi Fbriere, Thanks for the heads-up, and what a mess! I've added my 2 cents worth to the deletion policy debate. I don't mind anyone attempting to change policy as long as they do it the right way, but I definitely don't agree with protecting a page you're in a edit conflict over, writing repeated all-caps warnings over the listing page despite the page being within current policy, and then unilaterally changing policy to fit your personal views. I think it'll all blow over in a few days though, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 00:22, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
New batch up at Wiki Syntax
Hi Fbriere! FYI, there's new data up at the Wiki Syntax Project that covers redirects to non-existent targets; (The reason I'm leaving this note on your talk page is that you showed an interest in this problem category during the last batch). -- All the best, Nickj (t) 09:50, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Re:Ranidae → true frog
Hello Fbriere, nice work on cleaning up dead-end redirects. I am awaiting response on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life about it. True frog will probably one day be an article (perhaps frog will become true frog again who knows)... for now, take solace that it is correcter than it was before... — Phlebas 18:02, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
