Incomplete removal

Please check this edit of yours. Te image was removed while the caption and other specifications stayed untouched. -- Magioladitis (talk) 05:25, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Magioladitis. This looks bad, but I assume it happened because of the misplaced single closing bracket after John Peurifo in the caption. Such things are hard to detect. Sorry. --Krd 15:34, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please check this removal too. Maybe catch any comments too? -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:47, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In the current code it's too complicated to catch this mistake, but I now at least changed it accordingly so that this edit hasn't been made. The broken file link then can be sorted by other procedures. I hope that sufficient, if not please advise. Thank you. --Krd 17:42, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete summaries

Sometimes, with a long file name, Filedelinkerbot leaves cut-off edit summaries (1, 2, 3). Is there any way to make the summary a bit shorter (perhaps with abbreviations, like "C:" instead of "Commons:") to avoid this sort of thing? Eman235/talk 14:09, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eman235. Will look into that. --Krd 11:26, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
See Special:Diff/715765442. I don't see any way to make it even more short, except leaving out the link to the local file. What do you think? --Krd 06:47, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say the Commons deletion discussion should take precedence over a deleted local file page. Idea #1:
Bot: Removing [[C:File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png]]. Deleted by [[C:User:Example]] (Per [[C:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png]])
This would easily slip under the 255-character limit in most cases, though it doesn't have the local-file link. Idea #2:
Bot: Removing file: Per [[C:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png]], [[C:User:Example]] deleted [[C:File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png]] ([[File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png|en]]).
This would theoretically render as (Bot: Removing file: Per C:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png, C:User:Example deleted C:File:Very long file name that likes to break things.png ([[File:Very long file name that likes to break thing...), but the more important links would all be left intact. Eman235/talk 17:50, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree and activated the first variant now, let's monitor for some days. --Krd 17:54, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A series of gallery removal errors

Hi, suddenly coming across several instances of incomplete removal in galleries. Such as [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] and [6]. Looks like something has changed and broken something. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 20:05, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The bug was already fixed yesterday, but I didn't manage so far to verify and correct recent edits. --Krd 07:42, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted links

I notice that Filedelinkerbot and Commonsdelinker regularly hit the spam-blacklist because the files that they unlink are on blacklisted servers. I think it would be good if they built-in a check that if they hit the spam-blacklist, that they re-try but maiming the external link (e.g. leave off the 'http://'). They could even do that standard - maiming the link - as the link in the edit summary is not clickable, so copy-paste is for the interested follower anyway the only option. The latter solution would avoid hitting the blacklist completely. I do expect there will be a high incidence on links that are blacklisted or at least very questionable when there are copyright violations on the site (and we should never link to material in violation of copyright, so those sites do run a high risk of becoming blacklisted for that reason).

Both bots hit the filter on 'hosuronline.com/index.php/govt-demolished-part-of-csi-church-in-salem-without-verifying-papers/' on CSI Immanuel Church, salem (admin eyes only: log)- and from both it is unclear which file is the offending file (I can only guess through the re-linked image), but I see the bots turn up regularly in the logs (I will cross-post this on the other bot's talkpage). --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:13, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting idea, will have a look. Thank you! --Krd 07:44, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done (maiming all links in the summary). Please let me know if there are more problems. --Krd 09:14, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete removal

See diff https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Giovanni_Gentile&curid=776738&diff=763580257&oldid=762172819 (Hohum @) 01:04, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The file name that was removed was the name of the file that was deleted, and the file name used in the article didn't exist at that time, so the process was correct. Although I don't understand why the file named actually deleted was linked to the article at all, but maybe this was via some template which is not reproducible now.
I agree that the expression could work better, but at least there was an invalid file in the article before and after, so the bot didn't make it much worse. --Krd 05:37, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Broken table format

It seems this bot has deleted a bunch of image links in article Indian paisa. The deletions have broken the table layout causing HTML colspan=2 to be dumped into the first column and many other columns to be shifted so that they no longer make sense. I'm wondering if there is a way to prevent such destructive edits (excluding tables for example)? –JonathanCross (talk) 16:24, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

FYI: I fixed the table layout as demonstrated in this diff been fixed. –JonathanCross (talk) 16:52, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We could consider to exclude tables, but in order to be effective this had to be done with CommonsDelinker, too, which I doubt can be done shortly. I also have no data about how often this works in tables without trouble. I'd suggest to gather examples here for all cases that went wrong related to tables. --Krd 05:42, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This edit in Totoket Mountain produced a similar result. In that instance, the former image's caption makes sense without the image, so it would make sense to leave the caption; although presumably that would not always be the case. --pmj (talk) 10:21, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have now modified the code to skip all pages where the file name appears inside a table. --Krd 10:56, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your great work, Krd! --pmj (talk) 04:01, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bot error....

Hi, this edit really broke a lot of things by removing all periods from images and urls. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 20:51, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OMG, this looks indeed very bad. Will look into and report later. --Krd 05:07, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is fixed now, thank you again for reporting! --Krd 06:28, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bot problem?

Hi, I've been coming across more deleted files that I would have expected the bot to have de-linked and it looks like its only doing commons files not EN:WP deletions. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 12:39, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello KylieTastic. You need to give example, otherwise I cannot check. --Krd 15:42, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, some examples this this this this Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 15:53, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was sure myself, but it appears that the bot does only process Commons deletion, not local files. We can change that, but we'd have to check if another bot request is required. --Krd 16:07, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry my mistake your right, its even clearly stated in the edit notice! I thought Filedelinkerbot did both, and CommonsDelinker only did commons. But it's ImageRemovalBot that does the local ones, and it appears its back working again. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 16:56, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dateientlinkerlog

I can't figure out how to use https://tools.wmflabs.org/krdbot/cgi-bin/Dateientlinkerlog.pl. What are the proper inputs for Seite and Datei? "en" or "en.wikipedia.org" and are partial names okay for Datei, or does it need "File:" and the file extension? Underscores? For example, I'm not finding [7] (File:Jaz Rignall headshot.jpg) in the search. czar 22:10, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot find the named entry because the edit was done by Commonsdelinker, which is a separate bot. --Krd 07:09, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I meant this one. I think I figured it out though by using nothing in the page input field and the full file name+extension (without "File:") in the file field. Thanks! I am no longer watching this page—ping if you'd like a response czar 16:12, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry I didn't understand. You normal enter either the page or the file. If you enter both, both have to match. It can be used with or without "File:", but in any case with extension and the plain original file name, not replacing space by underscore. --Krd 17:29, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removal from a gallery wrong again

In Special:Diff/786401347 the image name was removed, but the orphaned, no-longer displayed description still remains there. --CiaPan (talk) 11:15, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reporting, made one change now to address the issue. --Krd 04:28, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mistaken removal of image from Bat

Hi, it looks as if the bot is misidentifying some images for removal. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:47, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else's mistake, eh. Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:30, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I had submitted a EP cover Sam Harvey musician asked me to add on instagram, she requested we use her EP image. And this bot keeps removing any images I receive from her to post. Am I doing something wrong?? Because it says with clinical proof and status and it was one she sent. Curly-carley (talk) 02:39, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

As a precaution, I've blocked this bot due to collateral damage from a rogue admin at commons who went on a deletion spree (see

WP:AN#Rouge Commons Admin). Anyone should feel free to unblock once the situation is sorted out satisfactorily, without checking with me. GoldenRing (talk) 06:53, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply
]

Godd choice, thank you. I think it should be safe now, please unblock. --Krd 07:19, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

I wouldn't have included an image in the Miscarriage and grief article if I had known it didn't have the appropriate copyright. So I am guessing that the copyright is based upon where the image is taken? Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   21:37, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The copyright usually depends mostly on the person who has created the image. --Krd 09:04, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Problem

This edit broke several references. Is there a way to get the bot to automatically repair references that it breaks?

talk) 19:50, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply
]

Hello. No, sorry, this is beyond everything the bot could manage. I think in first place it's a poor choice to put the definition of a named reference into a file caption. At most a could tell the bot not to do the unlink at all if there is a named reference. I have no idea how often that happens. --Krd 07:22, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Broke the infobox

The bot deleted the caption and the closing brackets for the infobox in the same fell swoop: [8]. Shouldn’t it leave the brackets alone? — Gorthian (talk) 05:36, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it should. I'll have a look what can be done. --Krd 06:45, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Flawed bot logic

On the article Mainland High School, a new user mistakenly uploaded a non-free image to Commons to replace the old logo, rather than Wikipedia. The image was deleted, and this bot, rather than reverting to the prior link of the old image, simply removed the image link. This left the article with no infobox image, a rather boring look. User:B-Bot then flagged the old image as orphaned, marking it for speedy deletion. Without user intervention, a logo that has stood on that page for 12 years would've been gone. This would have essentially been a bot-led vandalism. Additional logic should be written into this bot's code to check for such issues prior to such brash action, such as a check to see if a previous image was linked in the last few edits, followed by reverting to that image. A quick glance over the archive of this bot's talk page shows that this seems to be a recurring problem. ----Vox Rationis (Talk | contribs) 03:06, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Such logic is not achievable with reasonable effort. The bot cannot check the validity of the image, and in no case should reinsert e.g. a vandalism penis image. --Krd 05:00, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help!

Why is this bot removing other things like the |title= parameter as it did in this edit? It did the same thing another article, as well, that I know of. Corky 12:33, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing out! This was intended to remove the image caption, but sadly the expression was suboptimal for English. I changed that now accordingly. --Krd 16:20, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: Thanks! Corky 12:34, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting moved images

The bot is deleting images from articles, even though the image has been merely moved to a different title. Is there any way to fix this? Nehme1499 (talk) 03:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide an example. --Krd 09:34, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Example (I had to manually re-add the image). Also another example. Nehme1499 (talk) 11:38, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect has been deleted although it was in use. This is a mistake of the Commons admin who deleted. The file usage will be broken after deletion, so the removal is correct. --Krd 14:36, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the image I uploaded got removed because that's the real images for those artist and that's my own work..

What's the matter?? Kholo Motseki (talk) 07:45, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Logs broken?

//tools.wmflabs.org/krdbot/cgi-bin/Dateientlinkerlog.pl is giving "500 Internal Server Error". -- RoySmith (talk) 16:03, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know, sadly no time and competence to fix that. Please try: //commons-delinquent.toolforge.org/x-delinkers.php --Krd 16:10, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in bot edit?

Resolved

Did the bot really replace "200px" with "uprigt=0.9"? If so, please adjust the bot's programming so that it spells "upright" correctly. Thank you. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:17, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, you're looking at a wrong diff. --Krd 16:19, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The edit summary is (in my local time):
Revision as of 22:33, 14 December 2020 (edit) (undo)

(Bot: Removing Commons:File:Резервный рефери.jpg (en). It was deleted on Commons by Fitindia (per Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Резервный рефери.jpg).)
The diff shows this:
[[File:Martijn Bosman.jpg|right|200px|thumb|alt=A ...
Being changed to this:
[[File:Martijn Bosman.jpg|right|uprigt=0.9|thumb|alt=A ...
That looks like a bot making an erroneous edit to me. Please help me understand. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:52, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted files have been reuploaded

You have deleted multiple files on Hiraab Imamate page. [9] [10] [11] However, the user Abshir55 decided to re-upload them. He's also uploaded a fake map on Hawiye page. [12] Could you deal with this disruptive user? Thank you. Ayaltimo (talk) 22:23, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
