cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution
. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is

"Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Hello, Yes I tried to "Move" the article first, but it did not work. Football Lab (talk) 22:02, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to move a page, you MUST use

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Mohamed Sylla (footballer, born 1993), you may be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 18:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is not vandalism. Mohamad Sylla is not born in Ivry but in Ivry-sur-Seine, and the correct name is not L'Entente SSG but Entente SSG. The club's page has been renamed in 2021. Football Lab (talk) 18:20, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Where is the source that says he was born in Ivry-sur-Seine? When he played for the Entente club, it was before the re-name, so we use the historically accurate name. GiantSnowman 18:56, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FBref, globalsportsarchive, soccerbase. Ivry has been renamed Ivry-sur-Seine in 1897. I'm not talking about a club rename (there hasn't been any) but about the Wikipedia article title. Entente SSG has always been named Entente SSG. Football Lab (talk) 19:04, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced or poorly sourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Philippe Hinschberger. GiantSnowman 15:44, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
