Happy holidays!

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, Fuzheado!

The other day, I was having a conversation with someone about holiday cards and social media. It occurred to me that, in the years since I left Facebook, the site I use most to communicate with people I like isn't actually a social media site at all. If you're receiving this, it's pretty likely I've talked with you more recently than I have my distant relatives and college friends on FB, at very least, and we may have even collaborated on something useful. So here's a holiday "card", Wikipedia friend. :) Hope the next couple weeks bring some fun and/or rest. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 18:20, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Regarding Talk:Damar Hamlin

Hey, Fuzheado. I wanted to talk to you about your edit

MOS:SEEALSO say that we shouldn't like to articles at AfD. I was fine with your revert and didn't address it with you, but I now feel upset and bothered with how it was described. I will say that I regret adding both of the See Also links and I hope that you understand that I didn't realize that there would be a problem with adding the one link. --Super Goku V (talk
) 06:12, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

I'm surprised you say this because I never mentioned your username at all, nor did I think I ever implied I "talked to" you about this. I don't ever recall using the term "unethical" either. If you can point me to something that proves otherwise, let me know.
If you look at the edit history for Damar Hamlin there are multiple people who kept trying to re-insert that link, and Rockchalk717 or I undid them. I tried to provide a very detailed explanation why in the edit summaries, but people re-adding it prompted me to post a more extensive explanation on the talk page. I've also pointed people who kept doing this in other pages to this explanation as well, so maybe that's where the confusion was. For the record, on this page, these were the folks I was addressing.
Thanks. - Fuzheado | Talk 16:19, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Gotcha, then I misinterpreted things. From my point of view, the line that made me feel like it was referring to me was: Even after being told of this, and with the article being listed at WP:AFD where it is seeing little support, certain editors keep pushing for its exposure on this page, on templates, and other pages around Wikipedia as I had added it to the See Also template on a few other pages outside of the Damar Hamlin article. In those cases, you reverted it a few hours later. As far as I am currently aware, I am the only one who did so, hence my misbelief. Though, apparently I wasn't by your second to last line here. For the "unethical" part, it is my understanding that poor practice means to be careless and to have unethical behavior, so that is how I interpreted that. Is there a better meaning then that? Regardless, I apologize both for misunderstanding your meaning and for being upset at the misinterpretation. Sorry for the trouble, Super Goku V (talk) 02:00, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

360 panorama photos

You mentioned on the community wishlist that you do a lot of these, I'm curious what you use to splice/stitch photos together? I'm using a DJI Mini 3 Pro, and while it has an internal 360 pano function, the resultant image is comparatively low resolution (8,192 pixels on the long edge) and also doesn't do very well with aligning the images. That being said, it does provide an option to save the individual images as DNG files to manually stitch together later (it seems to take 35 individual shots, each 4,032 × 3,024). I've tried Hugin but it doesn't seem to (at least automatically) align the images correctly, and the trial of PTGui Pro works great, but the "Pro" version is a bit much to invest in for just hobbyist work here. Is there any resources/help topics here that I've missed? —Locke Coletc 05:14, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi there - your setup is probably more advanced than mine is at this point. For drone work, I used to use a DJI Mini with the Litchi third party app, which had its own 360 pano stitching which was "OK" but not great. I'm using a insta360 One RS for non-drone spherical photos, so I'm taking the easier route there. I used to use PTGui and haven't heard of a better option so far, so I suspect you are on the right path. - Fuzheado | Talk 13:10, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

"Atmotic" is the correct term.

On 28 November 2022, you reverted User:72.201.86.125's edit ("Atomic"→"Atmotic") to Airship, giving that user a Template:uw-vandalism1 warning. However, that user was correct; the term means "atmospheric", esp. travelling by airship. I've just reinstated "Atmotic", linking it to wikt:atmotic, which I also linked and summarized in my edit comment. You might want to reconsider the warning on that talk page. – .Raven  .talk 18:01, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello, Fuzheado,

I just wanted to thank you for reconsidering some of these article moves to Draft space and reverting those that are inappropriate. Every night I look at the list of the day's draftifications (User:JJMC89 bot/report/Draftifications/daily) and have noticed that the number of draftifications, especially for articles on some subjects like athletes, have greatly increased. I've also notice very new editors, some pf whom have only been editing a few days or weeks, draftifying articles which is not appropriate at their level of experience. I have posted messages to some editors who draftify articles multiple times, which is unacceptable, but mostly these articles moves go unobserved and unmonitored. Sometimes, it is a good decision to move incomplete articles by new editors to Draft space but some articles are clearly fine for main space but the page mover has some issue with them and their sourcing. The worst cases I've run across are new editors moving articles that are currently being edited by veteran editors to Draft space, sometimes just minutes after they have been created. Thanks for taking a second look at a few of these page moves. Liz Read! Talk! 17:59, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Fuzheado,
I was coming to your talk page to share the same sentiment as @Liz. Thanks for your monitoring of draftifications! It's not always easy for the original author to contest them, and has been a sometimes significant source of demotivation for many of the new-to-Wikipedia translators that I work with! 7804j (talk) 18:55, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

2023 Odisha train collision

Thanks for the update on the above articles importance. I'm not part of that WP, but with over 1,000 dead and injured, there is no way it should be rated low importance. I appreciate the changes you made. Thanks. Juneau Mike (talk) 23:33, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read

A tag has been placed on Christianné_Allen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Indian train crash image

Until the copyright status of the image is established, it should not be used. Please would you restore the locomotive image whilst this is being sorted? Mjroots (talk) 11:18, 3 June 2023 (UTC)

Actually, the copyright situation seems pretty clear given that the original Youtube video is licensed CC-BY from the official Kalinga TV account. Therefore any screen grab is acceptable by Commons. I only converted the speedy deletion to a formal nomination in order to get more confirmation. However, if you feel it's a blocker to being included on the article, I can go ahead and withdraw the deletion nomination and just boldly label the media file to be acceptable.
