Hi Ian!
G'day Ian,
Nice to see you around on Wikipedia.
Best regards,

Noted your edit comment on the Falcon page. I'm curious as to where the rule comes from that "more horsepower" is incorrect, as opposed to "more power." I'm not sure I see the essential difference. RivGuySC 03:15, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I've answered this question on your talk page. Icd
Howdy, Icd. Or G'day.
I did think over your answer, but I'm not really convinced this is more than a style preference. For one thing, engine power is commonly measured in both horsepower and torque, so just saying more power is not precise. And I lean more to the rule that if fluent native speakers would readily say it and understand it, then it's correct enough, and I think "more horsepower" would certainly fall into that category. However, different strokes for different folks--or, to each his own. RivGuySC 03:55, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)

re: Stratocaster
The change was removing a list of 'famous Stratocaster players' that had been pasted into a paragraph where it didn't belong. If you want to include favorite Stratocaster players, please add them to the existing list at the bottom of the article. Auto movil 15:15, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Also, thanks for the mild smackdown on marking edits. You're right. See the note on my talk page. Auto movil 15:59, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Thanks! I appreciate your comment. It's something of a burden to monitor these articles I've mostly written (guitars, punk rock, food, etc.), and I do get it wrong sometimes, for which I apologize. Your edits were, I thought, not in the right place, but good edits. I'm sorry if I rankled. Auto movil 04:37, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Pentax
All I did was try to make sense of the previous statement "Asahi bought the name "Pentax" from the East German camera manufacturer VEB Zeiss Ikon, which probably derived it from PENtaprism and conTAX, because it also incorporated the use of a 42mm screw mount." I agree that my assumption that it meant the 42mm screw came with the name was just that, an assumption, but I couldn't see what else the writer might have meant. Since you queried it I looked on www.pentax.com which says "The Pentax name was created in 1957, derived from a combination of the words PENTAprism and refleX in recognition of Asahi Optical Co. Ltd being the first manufacturer to incorporate a pentaprism viewfinder and reflex mirror system into a camera." This brings into question whether they actually bought the name at all. A statement from http://www.cameraquest.com/pentorig.htm further clouds the issue "42mm thread mount which later became known as the Pentax or universal screw mount. It wasn't really the Pentax mount though, since the 42mm screw mount was introduced on the East German Contax S in 1949.", though the mention of Contax is reminiscent of the original. If you can find out any more I would not argue with subsequent changes, especially since I didn't make the original statement. --SMeeds 23:11, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for getting me out of that one. You're edit looks fine to me. I am more knowledgeable about the technical rather than the historical aspects, though some of what I know is now historical, if that makes sense. I agree it is clear that the 42mm mount is a side-issue. I realised after I wrote the above that the original writer probably meant that the name Pentax referred obliquely to the use of the 42mm thread, which had previously been used in a Contax. That didn't seem likely because it would amount to (admittedly covert) use of someone else's trade name. --SMeeds 22:49, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Masi Bicycles
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Hey Icd. Keep up the good work on Masi Bicycles. If you check the talk page, you will see I am getting really annoyed at how hard you are having to work just to make a nice article on a cycling company. It's just frustrating for me to see all the pushback on the kind of contributions that built Wikipedia, and made it as good and as comprehensive as it is today. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Triumph Daytona 675, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Power (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
