  • Fine with the move, didn't really think about it. The finnish title of a Faulkner novel is unlikely to need disambiguation on the english wikipedia! Cheers.--Milowenthasspoken 12:19, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amplified Conference

I intend to recreate the Amplified Conference entry. This was deleted because it was felt to be a term coined by a blogger. However the term is now being used widely and there are formal references I intend to cite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lisbk (talkcontribs) 15:12, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DataGuidance

Hi,

At the end of 2011 the DataGuidance Wikipedia page was deleted, please could you give me more information about why it was deleted?

Following on from this, what do we need to do to recreate the page? We do want a page on Wikipedia explaining what we do at DataGuidance (www.dataguidance.com).

Kind regards,

Mumm ra words

Surely the other Mumm ra words should be redirected to the main Mumm ra article if merging is not the correct usage? Dwanyewest (talk) 19:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's the way I'd see it. It looks like the main Mumm-Ra article is essentially a duplicate of the text on the character list, so any parts that do not appear on the main article should be merged there and the rest removed, perhaps replaced with a quick summary. Having such lengthy text in two separate places is hard to maintain. JIP | Talk 19:23, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TI Calculator Community Page

It seems that you just carelessly deleted the

TI Calculator Community
page without checking its timestamp history, as I had just started that page less than four hours before you decided to delete it. I know the page needed work to become notable, but you didn't even give me a chance to edit it with sources and additional information. Honestly, I was prepared to invest some serious time into putting together the page, as I am an avid member of the TI community, but seeing your foolhardy approach to moderation leaves me suspect of the whole Wikipedia process.

Seeing as you are so good at deleting things, can you please delete my account as well? I won't be needing it anymore...

I'm sorry about this! I just looked at the "proposed for deletion" message and saw that it said that it was over seven days old, and so deleted the page. I didn't realise it was only four hours old. I've restored the page now. JIP | Talk 18:15, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

*shrug* It's not a big deal and this is the last you'll be hearing about it from me, I just think it's odd to be so pedantic about something that's supposed to be a bit of fun. The Carebears (Demo group)

If I re-create these pages will it get deleted again? I can add more references from primary sources on the 'net this time although as with most Atari ST demo history a lot is locked up in non 'net resources and not much has been archived to web accessible stuff. I can assure you they were a very notable group at the time but I guess the install base of the Atari ST is fairly low. Alex (talk) 09:14, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But when it comes to merging and redirecting articles, you can also do it yourself. Administrator powers are only required for deleting articles. Knowledge Sharing Effort

I was surprised to login to Wikipedia and find that the article on the DARPA Knowledge Sharing Effort had been deleted. I hope the deletion can be undone. I think it was a very significant project. It lead to several large and successful DARPA programs in the early and mid 1990s that had major impact on computer science and AI. I'll give three examples.

  • It defined the role and importance of ontologies in knowledge management and distributed systems. We see its direct influence today, for example, in the semantic web, Microdata, and Google's Knowledge Graph.
  • It showed the importance of a common language (KIF) for representing knowledge in distributed information systems. In many ways, KIF is the precursor of RDF and OWL, upon which the semantic web is based.
  • It introduced an abstract communication language (KQML) for multiagent systems that spurred interest in agent-based systems in the past twenty years and continues to be the generic example for the genre.

One important aspect of the DARPA Knowledge Sharing Effort was that it recognized hat all three of these components were necessary to provide a framework to allow systems to successfully exchange information at the knowledge level in a way that assured mutual understanding. This remains a long term goal, but one on which we are making steady progress, both in theory and in practice.

Thanks! Now I have scans of the original English comic, and I have the Finnish translation in my bookshelf. I honestly don't know what went on in the Finnish translator's mind when he/she decided to translate most of those well-known mythological animal names to made-up ones. Maybe he/she had never heard of them? JIP | Talk 19:53, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Transformers

Hi Jip,

Thank you for contacting me on this issue. I agree that the list needs to take all the various Transformers media into account. As the main article for Transformers characters,

List of Transformers characters
need only serve as the parent article to those other lists, not duplicate all of the entries in all of the other lists.

Neelix (talk) 21:48, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Neelix, and thanks for your message. I understand what you are trying to do but don't see how it's going to happen. This article, which I started and later edited when numerous Marvel-comic-only characters were being merged into it, is and so far remains focused on the Marvel comic. It doesn't list any character that appeared outside it. Now Marvel is the entity that originally created the whole Transformers mythos - Hasbro had the toys, but Marvel wrote the story behind them - but even in the 1980s, the Marvel comic was by no means the primary canon source, and today even less so. So as far as I can see, this article should be one of the subarticles under the main article, not the main article itself. JIP | Talk 19:41, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jip,
That makes sense. I have moved the list back to a comics-specific title and have recreated
List of Transformers characters
as a separate list. Let me know if you have any further concerns.

Please restore the Matt Finish Chronology

Hi Jip, you have deleted "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Finish_Chronology", please restore this page, because it has valuable historic information about one of Australia's greatest bands and the interaction of Australia's greatest musicians from the past 50 years. Many people and media refer to this chronology. Please at the very least, restore the information and send it to me so it can be posted elsewhere. Many thanks for understanding the importance of music and musicians in our culture. Regards, John Prior, onedaysoon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onedaysoon (talkcontribs) 00:22, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to restore the page in order to userfy it but am experiencing connection problems. The connection to Wikipedia always resets in the middle of the restoration. JIP | Talk 07:21, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now the restoration succeeded. The article has been userfied at User:Onedaysoon/Matt Finish Chronology. JIP | Talk 07:23, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi jip, many people thank you for restoring this page. I note that U2 have an extensive timeline on Wikipedia that is similar to the Matt Finish Chronology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_U2, and this is also an important historic document. Actually, in both band's timelines, you can see that Matt Finish and U2 performed 15 concerts around Australia together in 1984. Please reactivate "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Finish_Chronology" as it was before so other people can continue to use it. Many thanks again. Onedaysoon 10:59, 18 November 2012.

Editing User:Onedaysoon/Matt Finish Chronology and moving it back to Matt Finish Chronology does not require administrator privileges, so I don't feel my help is necessary here. I moved the article to your userspace so you can edit it at your leisure and when you feel it is in good enough shape to meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria you can move it back to main article space, without risking it getting deleted again in between. JIP | Talk 19:39, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jip. I restored the page and reduced some data, but what else do we have to do for it not to be deleted? It's all important information. Onedaysoon 22:17, 19 November 2012. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.159.164.252 (talk)
