Not for anti-vandal reasons. Just follow some of the conversations to see how these experienced administrators handle different situations. Jehochman Talk 01:33, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Would you kindly take a look at this

SSP case I looked into? How did I do? What is the next step in the process here? Should I go ahead and talk to the user in question (I'm willing to try; I can be nice), or would you like to handle that, or is that not the appropriate thing to do next? Japan-Korea edit warring

I went ahead and spoke to the IP here. I'm hoping s/he comes and clarifies that Objectiveye is his/her account. S/he has made good contributions, and I don't want to see this user get in trouble. I think it will be okay for this user if s/he just speaks up right now before it becomes a problem. SunDragon34 (talk) 21:09, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. I will leave comments on the case. Jehochman Talk 21:41, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have filed the checkuser request per your recommendations. Please feel free to add to it however you want; I'd hate for this case to be messed up by a botched checkuser request. I also made one last ditch effort to persuade the IP/suspected puppet account to come and talk it over with us. (I placed the same message on both talk pages.) SunDragon34 (talk) 08:05, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I got a response from Objectiveye here. Just so you know. I'm glad we're in contact with them, at least. I'm still interested in what the Checkuser discovers. SunDragon34 (talk) 07:36, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The checkuser results are available at
single purpose accounts, you may want to file a new checkuser request. The editors who were blocked might return with new accounts. Jehochman Talk 08:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply

Checking in

Hello, coachees. Would you let me know how you are doing? Jehochman Talk 21:11, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SunDragon34 (talk) reporting in. I'm doing well. I've edited a bit here and there over the past few weeks. I don't find it hard to be polite to other users, and I try to help out as often as I know how. I like to peek into AFD and 3O every so often. Of the four talk pages you recommended, I've been watching Alison's the most (the life of a checkuser is hard, isn't it?), but I look a bit at all of them. I haven't written a DYK post yet, so I'm still reading into how to do that. Of course, you already know I've been snooping around SSP. I've kept myself out of discussions at AN/I, per your orders. I'm still editing Toy Story and Sarracenia for FA-status, but I'm on the lookout for another article I can work on. Sarracenia is really close--A-class when I found it--and I put it up for peer review and am fixing to do the things the reviewers suggested. I am not proficient with image coding yet. Would you please teach me how to do the image-related tasks suggested at the peer review? Anyway, I think I'm doing well overall. Happy editing! SunDragon34 (talk) 00:46, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am not very good with images. If you would like to learn more about them, you might approach User:Carcharoth who seems to know a lot about copyright. You might offer to help with some of the tasks that are persistently backlogged. Additionally, you could contact User:Durova. She might be able to help you create a featured image or featured sound. I guarantee that you will enjoy seeing your work on the home page of Wikipedia.
I have a second request. On my talk page you will find a note from
suspected sock puppet report and then signal me to look at it? You could leave Caspian blue a talk page message to offer help. I have some raw evidence that I could send you by email if you email me via the form so that I get your address. (I won't write my address here because that might generate more spam.) Jehochman Talk 02:48, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply
]
Did you get my email? I think your spam filter might have blocked it. I'll send another one. Cheers! SunDragon34 (talk) 20:23, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SSP case on Lurgan

Hi, Jehochman. I'm wondering what the next step is in the

SSP case of User:Dell1300. Should I file a checkuser? When do you consider sockpuppetry to be certain enough that a checkuser is unnecessary? SunDragon34 (talk) 22:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply
]

...That is, is Checkuser a standard procedure in every sockpuppet case where there is evidence to reasonably suspect sockpuppetry, or are there times when there is enough evidence that you can just go ahead and block the accused? If so, how much evidence is needed? SunDragon34 (talk) 22:35, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SSP:Admin action requested

Sockpuppeteer Ace2690 recently threatened User:Rbanzai for getting him/her blocked and his/her article deleted. The user made the threat here as User:Andrew Crow. There's an SSP case on this user, but since it's a confessed sock puppet, can we just block that account (Andrew Crow) and close the SSP? For background, see here and here. Cheers! SunDragon34 (talk) 01:19, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked. Jehochman Talk 01:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Hey, what's a "sleeper"? And, as a side note, I suspect the real sockmaster is Teriko, because that is the user's account name on Tekkenpedia. Not that it matters. SunDragon34 (talk) 01:47, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sleeper is an account set up and left dormant for a long time so it can be used later, and not be a new account (i.e. no subject to semi-protection, and may appear to have a long user history). Jehochman Talk 01:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coaching Exercises Update

I've got two DYKs approved and good to go. 1: Aerosteon 2: Giovanni Buscaglione Now I'll just watch for them on the Main page. SunDragon34 (talk) 18:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good work! How about a
Unterseeboot 853 which is the first good U-boat article. Jehochman Talk 18:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply

My Aerosteon hook got featured today. I missed it on the Main Page, though...but that's life. SunDragon34 (talk) 03:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFAR exercise

Hi. What does the RFAR exercise entail? How would you like me to analyze the case, and what sort of understanding are you looking for? Where should I leave my comments (i.e. the workshop)? Also, thank you for the delicious cookies! SunDragon34 (talk) 06:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, comment in the workshop. Just read the case page and the evidence and the prior comments. You can also look at some of the requests for clarification listed at
WP:RFAR. Jehochman Talk 21:10, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply

Reporting in and requesting input

Hi, Jehochman. Right now I'm working to clear the SSP backlog, and I'm keeping an eye out for an RFAR case for which I can give useful input. I go a-Huggling every so often, and I also pop into AfD once in a while.

I was wondering if you had any advice for me as to how I'm doing so far, things I could improve on, and what I should be participating in to gain experience. (I know I need more article writing and heavier activity in an admin specialty.)

  • Do you notice any bad habits or practices that I need to fix?
  • What area/areas should I concentrate on for the next while?
  • What XfD, other than AfD, do you recommend or enjoy?
  • How's my interaction with other editors?
  • Do you have any thoughts about my strengths and weaknesses?

Thank you for your input. Cheers! SunDragon34 (talk) 20:27, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have not ignited any major controversies, so I think you are doing a good job. Has anybody complained to you? Lack of feedback is generally a sign that your work is on target. Jehochman Talk 21:11, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unauthorized semi-protection

Hey. Am I allowed to revert a non-admin's unauthorized semi-protection of an article? It's not a controversial article; s/he just created the page and semi-protected it. Two articles have this. (1, 2) SunDragon34 (talk) 06:52, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
