I've added the "{{

prod}}" template to your user page (User:Johnywhy), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy
).

Please note that the purpose of a user page is not as personal homepage or used as a general webhosting service, but as way for active editors of Wikipedia to introduce themselves to other editors. If you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues here or on my user talk page. You may remove the deletion notice, and the page will not be deleted for the moment, but note that it may still be sent to Miscellany for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the

contentious
. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have

Happy editing! Selfstudier (talk) 20:06, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Selfstudier, i believe that i didn't edit the page, as you said. I suggested an edit on the Talk page. Before that, i read that controversial edits or topics require special procedures. The page says:
The contentious topics procedure applies to this article. You must be logged-in and extended-confirmed to edit or discuss this topic on any page (except for making edit requests, provided they are not disruptive).
Another user told me:
[[Talk:History of Palestine]] is not protected. Put your edit request there.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection/Edit&oldid=prev&diff=1219814121
That's what i did. But now i don't see my edit request on the page's Talk tab anymore.
Please confirm that i didn't edit the page, as you said, and please tell me the correct action i should take to request or directly apply my edit.
Thx! Johnywhy (talk) 05:53, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you read
WP:ARBECR
, you will see that non EC editors are limited to the filing of straightforward edit requests on article talk pages, and nothing else. This has nothing to with protection which is a separate thing that may be applied to any page by administrators, typically following some sort of disruption.
This edit is not an edit request, which needs to be of the form change X to Y and should not be complex, difficult or controversial to implement. EC editors will then decide whether to do so.
I hope this clears things up. Selfstudier (talk) 10:29, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thx for the explanation, Selfstudier. I need to post a specific edit. But shouldn't i support that edit with reasons? Johnywhy (talk) 14:43, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Johnywhy (talk) 14:42, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Selfstudier my request is here:
Talk:History of Palestine#"Palestine" Is Not a Country Johnywhy (talk) 16:57, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Selfstudier,
Please let me know if my edit-request was done properly here. If not, how can i fix it?
In particular, the request is to change a word which appears 19 times in the article. Should i enter a `{{TextDiff|` for each of the 19 instances? For now, i only entered three, as examples.
Thx,
Johnywhy (talk) 16:56, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Answered. Your response was removed, since no-one asked you for one. And you may not yourself decide whether an edit request has been answered or not. Finally, just so you know, WP is not a source. Selfstudier (talk) 17:10, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You may of course submit another edit request, perhaps bear in mind the requirement that it be simple and straightforward. Selfstudier (talk) 17:12, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A further response was removed, your input is neither necessary nor required. That edit request has been dealt with, submit another if desired. Selfstudier (talk) 17:19, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
