Hi Josh, I have been using Flickr to find images freely usable under a Creative Commons license - it is possible to search the site specifically for images that fit Wikipedia's requirements of being released under Creative Commons and being free for commercial use. Any such image may be used without permission.
With Flickr it should be fairly easy to ask a contributor to consider changing the license of an image, on other websites you would probably have to email the owner/webmaster of the site or creator of the image. Generally speaking, you need to ask permission to use any copyrighted material - you can make a claim of
Fair Use
, but that might be difficult with active sportsmen as it would not be considered difficult enough to find or create a free alternative.
I hope that I've explained that OK, image policy is very technical because of the legal aspects and I am far from an expert. Wikipedia:Image use policy probably explains it better than I can. Let me know if you have any questions. Best wishes, Rje (talk ) 16:12, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

I was only saying that stuff because I was angry that he vandalized one of the pages I created. I do see the error of my ways though. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 04:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi there. There are loads of free use images at flickr. You just have to set the advanced search settings to search out the ones that can be used here at wikipedia. BTW there were loads of Newcastle ones when I last had a chance to look.Lando09 (talk ) 08:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey man, keep up the good work - I had fun expanding the Newcastle/NZ player pages you created. Mattlore (talk ) 00:50, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
I'll add my good job on the Newcastle Knights page, Josh. Much appreciated. Benyoch ...Don't panic! Don't panic!... (talk ) 14:02, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed....
Hey,
I noticed that you are adding Rick Stone to the coach transfers but I though he fulltime coached the Newcastle Knights last year.

Or you can add him back but you say that it was mid season.

Hey Josh, do you have a source for switching Aaron and Zeb around? Zeb started the match while Aaron was on the bench so usually Zeb would have the higher number. Mattlore (talk ) 23:05, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, i looked at one of the sources at the NZRL you had at the bottom of the page. Coincidentally, I don't think it works anymore. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 07:49, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough, that's a shame, nzleague.co.nz was a good unofficial source. I guess we will have to wait until the NZRL update there official website to be sure. Mattlore (talk ) 22:48, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Josh, I would have thought that
this approach are two distinct articles. On the former there is much information that's not on the latter. On the latter we have a cap number and clarity as to a player's debut match. But I can't see that there's a justification for re-directing the former to the latter. Would you mind undoing the re-direct ? -

Hey Josh, just letting you know that you can use a pipe with {{rlp}} to add in multiple positions. So you can do {{rlp|CE|WG}} instead of {{rlp|WG}} {{rlp|CE}}. Don't bother going back and changing the ones you've done though, just a tip for the future! Mattlore (talk ) 11:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

I created those articles because they are notable non-first graders that all have a chance to make first-grade this year. There are other articles on Wikipedia about players that havn't played first-grade yet such as Kevin Naiqama and Peter Mata'utia , but they are very notable. So i would not want those pages you suggested deleted. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 07:17, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Josh, if you want to object to these proposed deletions, I'd suggest reading
wp:REFUND - restoring an article deleted because the chap hasn't yet played for the first team after the he has played for first team should be a pretty clearcut case. If you dispute the prod and it goes to AFD and the decision there is to delete, then again restoration should be straightfoward once the chap gets to play - you can either ask the admin who closes the AFD or file a request at
Wikipedia:Deletion review Ϣere Spiel Chequers 11:35, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi there - just a note to say that I don't think I'll send these to AfD now that you've contested the prods - there's no need to fight tooth and nail to delete reasonably sourced material. And you are quite right that some of these players might play first grade soon (especially considering Newcastle's form this season!). But I might re-visit at the end of the season if any of the players haven't yet made first grade. I hope you understand that these players don't meet the notability guidelines for athletes () 20:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer " userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not
autoconfirmed
to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious
Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found
here .
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk ) 04:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Would you know whether this is the David Smith that played for Widnes? As according to rugbyleagueproject, he played in Widnes' 1989 World Club Challenge win over Canberra Raiders. Cheers. DynamoDegsy (talk )

Hey,
I have had trouble finding a small picture for a suspended player. I currently have a red X but have not had any luck finding something for suspension. I noticed you had the injury icon and the captain pic so maybe you could help find a pic for a suspension.

Hi Josh, I notice you revert a certain amount of vandalism, would you be interested in having Rollback? If so have a read of wp:Rollback and tell me when you would and wouldn't use it. Cheers Ϣere Spiel Chequers 09:43, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind having it. I would use it to revert all the usual vandalisms i undo & if i thought something was constructive but not needed i would probably edit it but not use rollback on it. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 10:43, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
OK I've done that, the key thing to remember is that when you rollback anyone else you are labelling their edit as vandalism - though if you rollback yourself you are merely fessing up to a mistake. Ϣere Spiel Chequers 12:28, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

It appears that you've been using rollback to revert edits in this dispute. Please remember rollback is for clear cases of vandalism only, not to revert in content disputes (even if you think the edits you're reverting are misguided or plain wrong). --) 05:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry about that :p. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 05:47, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey Josh, are you sure about the move? Apart from the naming of the Toyota Cup team most sources I've found refer to him as Fai Fai Loa. Mattlore (talk ) 01:44, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes i'm sure. His NRL profile has the hiphen & if you look up "Kalifa Fai Fai Loa" on Google most results come up with the hiphen. Josh the newcastle fan (talk ) 01:47, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi there, I posted this at
unreferenced biographies of living people. I've got the Australian list down from over
400 in August to about 150 now. I've been tracking what articles are left, and I've now completed all of the sporting ones... except for about
22 21 rugby league players. I'm finding them very hard to reference, as I don't know which of stats.rleague.com, yesterday's heroes or rugbyleagueproject are really reliable or complete. Could I ask a huge favour of you and request that you complete the referencing of the
remaining players ? At the moment the list is:
Jim Pizanias has not played 1st grade in Australia; I would heave this article
John Coveney needs infobox
Josh Lewis (rugby league footballer)
Keith Agget
Ken Ashcroft
Lee Rose (rugby league)
Malcolm Clift
Matt Bickerstaff
Matthew Wurth
Michael Henderson (rugby league)
Mick Mullane
Mike Wylie
Nick Yakich
Norm Rogers (rugby league)
Peter Wright (rugby league)
Rex Wright
Rod Wright
Ron Costello
Ron Saddler
Russell Wyer
Sid Hobson
Tony Mestrov
As someone who only watches some highlights of the NRL Grand Final each year, and "aerial ping pong" the rest of the time, it's been tough trying to reference people that I have no idea about. I have asked at the Aust RL WikiProject in the past, and got not much action, so anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. If you like doing this sort of thing then there are the 79 players on the International RL list, or plenty lists of UBLPs by sport or almost any other topic you can think of.
I also see that you've just created a bunch more, which only have a link in the "external links" section. Some people consider these unreferenced, and hence will tag them as such, and may even try to have them deleted under the
WP:BLPPROD rules. I disagree, but to make everyone happy, it is just as easy to just put that link between <ref></ref> tags inline, rather than just at the end. You probably should stick a stub template on them too, rather than just the expand one. Cheers,
