Yuri manga magazines

(Oops I posted this on my own talkpage)

I can say, (and very proud to say LOL), that I love yuri manga. I keep up with the japanese news, if there was any other japanese yuri manga magazine I would have heard of it. sadly other than those 5 magazines, I haven't heard of any other :( --ChuChu (talk) 20:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it as soon as possible.
I find it interesting that Comic Yuri Hime S has a circulation slightly bigger than Comic Yuri Hime; 80,000 compared to 75,000. I think they are expecting to get more readers since it has the "moe" element, which might attract the otaku. --ChuChu (talk) 00:18, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Sola

I have made a small correction to your edit of Sola (manga). The kanji 万 is ten thousand, so the referenced article's headline containing "200万" means 2 million, not 200 million (which would be 200億). I hope you find this beneficial to your Japanese studies, and good luck! --Albert Tellier (talk) 05:09, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Category:Shōjo-ai

Ehy Juhachi, can you help me out here. This user called TigressofIndia created a Shōjo-ai cat, which is not only redundat with Category:Yuri but also misleading in itself. I think he/she is tagging every Yuri series as Shōjo-ai now. I'm not sure what I should do with this. Some help would be appreciated. Kazu-kun (talk) 22:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm, didn't seem to get any real attention on the Albums WikiProject. You were saying we should try some options with the Kanji and other titles being in one box. Sounds good to me if we want to try it, since not sure how many other people are interested at the moment. Which isn't to say they won't be later on. The episode template started out pretty small at first, with just a few of us manually converting lists. We might leave a message on

"Why can't anime have demographics?"

This seems the best place to address your question. Well, it's not about "why" actually. Obviously, anime producers must set a target audience for their products. The issue is that they don't usually disclose that information, as manga/novel publishers do. So when dealing with original anime (non-adapted from a previous manga/novel) adding a target demographic would be OR.

Now, about

WP:MOS-AM's stand is that the "Article introductions should be primarily about the first format". Therefore, even though the creator considers the anime as the original product, the article should have the novel as primary subject. I'm going to do some re-wording on the lead to make that clear. Kazu-kun (talk) 18:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

"first" is not the same as "original", and I agree with the guideline because this is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement site. While we can include the creator's take in the article, the article's arrangement has to be decided in accordance with wikiepdia criteria. Also, take in account that an encyclopedia is about the impact on the "real world", so we have the "first" product as primary subject because is the one that had contact with the "real world" first. This is part of the real-world perspective required for all articles. Kazu-kun (talk) 20:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not your personal fan site.

There is a reason NOT RECOMMENDED is in all caps. Saying that you don't like space inside the box as opposed to outside the box is not a reason and clearly not a necessary thing. Do not break site-wide style based on personal likes and dislikes. All Navboxen should be page width and default color, as well as style standardized text that they contain. Again, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and that professional display is to be maintained above personal tastes. The Navbox in question is displayed on a gaming article with the GA rating, in order to maintain that rating standards need to be followed. Navboxen of all shapes, colors, and styles are an eyesore that looks bad to readers and breaks the flow between articles. I don't know why they show you how to break the standard coding on the help site but that's no reason to do so. Please refrain from intentionally reverting standardization on any of the Navboxen, if you continue I will start issuing tiered warnings. --

AeronPrometheus, again I remind you that there is no consensus agreed standard for these nav boxes, and certainly you cannot be forcing these changes when you are challenged on them. Please stop this. -- Ned Scott 09:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Dengeki Bunko isn't shonen

Light novels do not use the shonen/seinen demographic terms; the age group that reads them is in the overlap between the two demographics but the lack of furigana make it clear they are not aimed at children. As a compromise with certain individuals who insist on having demographics even where they do not apply (or cannot be applied with any certainty) we've agreed to call them seinen. Doceirias (talk) 10:44, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

User Chuchu does not speak Japanese fluently, has never lived in Japan, and has absolutely not basis for his convictions, despite being completely wrong. I translate light novels professionally and lived in Japan for six years. Native Japanese speakers have also pointed out that the terms are not used with light novels, but Chuchu refuses to be persuaded. I've given up arguing with him. Dengeki Bunko novels contain no more furigana than seinen manga do; only on difficult or obscure words. Kanji density is a little lower; they are Young Adult novels, after all, but they aren't children's books and no amount of misinformed confidence on Chuchu's part will ever make them so. Doceirias (talk) 19:27, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think so. Ultimately it's just my opinion, but it hasn't be contradicted by anyone in a position to know better...generally, I think if there's doubt, leave it out. Doceirias (talk) 03:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't need to be have a fluent Japanese, nor do I need to live in Japan to know what's the target readership of light novels. I depend on publishers and Japanese online stores. If you have a problem with that, then you can talk with either the publisher or those oline stores, and try to convinve them otherwise. I never said that light novels are targeted at children, I said that they are targeted at teenagers and above. Can you link me to where I said that light novels are aimed at children? --ChuChu (talk) 08:17, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Elfen Lied/List of EL episodes/List of EL characters for Peer Review &FA nomination - I've been working

I've been working quite a bit on improving Elfen Lied and its associated lists for a while so that it can be put up for Peer Review or FA/FL nomination some time in the future, and I was wondering what you think. I'm hoping to get more details on themes and reception as well as exted episode summaries and character lists, and I think it might be ready. BTW, what's this about secondary human characters not being necessary to include in the list on the base page? ætərnal ðrAعon 07:06, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey thanks for the advice. I have been looking at other FAs within the scope of
WP:ANIME - one of the major ways in which I'm expanding it is by using Madlax as a "model" to improve it. However, most of the sections that are quite thick in the Madlax article which are thin in the EL article all come from one website. Often, other users will tag parts that I add saying they lack references but really I grab whole sections from single pages. That said by using Madlax as a model, why I've been re-adding bios of Mayu and Kurama into the main article. ætərnal ðrAعon 07:29, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay then, I've done some cleanup on the plot section as well as the reception section for now. I intend to add a "Production" section which features the crew of the series within the "Anime" section soon. For now, I think we can get the list of episodes to FL status quite soon if we simply etxend the espisode summaries - what I've been doing. I used List of FLCL episodes as a model for that. ætərnal ðrAعon 08:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

As you suggested, I bumped up the list of Elfen Lied episodes so that we can put it up for Peer Review some time. Could you (if you reckon it's good) nominate it for PR or FL? Thanks ætərnal ðrAعon 00:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

What a friend we have in Jesus

Hello Juhachi:

Thank you. Reading those lyrics took me back a long way.

There is an issue I'm assuming you're not aware of, that the text of the opening paragraph is pretty much verbatim from another website. Taking information is okay, but not the wording. I'm not totally sure why, but that's the way it is.

A paraphrase or a major rewrite is the usual approach.

Kino's Journey

Can we stop reverting and discuss yet? Both lists have been cleaned up and their leads expanded. Additionally, they have the lists of the actual list content, being the lists of episodes and novels, respectively. Per

WP:LAY#If a section is a summary of another article, the sections in the main Kino's Journey article ARE summaries of the fuller list articles, with the main article using a summary of the lead of the list and its content. Using main is the more appropriate option, and consistent with other articles, including multiple featured articles. These are not just "related" articles, but breakout articles from the main and as such, should be labeled main. Collectonian (talk) 19:27, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

New article to be created

Juhachi, I am working on a future article, Hiromi Ishikawa, on

April

Rewrite (visual novel)

Perhaps you started the article a bit too early...it is April 1 in Japan, you know.

Well, not very important announcements are made on this date for some other reason....While the announcement is probably true (with a scenario writer staff to die for), I just think it would be a good idea to wait a few days for further developments.
I am not sure about the legality of fake copyright tags, but clear pranks have copyright tags under them as well, so.... It would be another story if individual titles were trademarked though.

Ascii

I saw that going on and thought it looked like a nightmare, yeah. My best guess is we simply change the names...once a book has actually come out on the new label. No need to specify that the company name has changed; they can read that at the company article. But also no need to change it on Kino until volume 12 comes out. Interview for WikiProject Anime and Manga

Hello there,

I am an undergraduate CS student from Georgia Tech and I am conducting an academic study on the Anime Manga WikiProject community (more information in my User Page, User:GT YiWu. I have also made a posting in the discussion page: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#Academic Research on WikiProjects. I recently had an online voice interview with User:Nihonjoe, a long time member of WikiProject Japan and WikiProject Anime and Manga. When I asked him if he could refer me to any other people whom he though would be good to talk to and would have interesting things to say, your name came up. I would very much like to interview you about your experiences on the Wikipedia community and in WP Anime and Manga. If you are interested please let me know at [email protected]

Thanks!

Ok, trying to get a point across in the limited space of the edit summary is impossible this time, so I'll explain it over here. Concerning the possible kanji spellings, this is not only a fact to me and certainly nothing I personally thought up. It is a fact that can be verified and affirmed by anybody who speaks Japanese and knows how Japanese names work. It's as much a fact as saying that "Haruhi" can be written with kanji meaning "spring day".

What kind of substantiation should be added? Any dictionary substantiates these pronunciations, but you don't add a link to a dictionary for every Japanese word or name, do you? Also, there are people called like this, but adding a link to a random person with this name seems a bit pointless, since it's not directly linked to the article. Or a general explanation of how Japanese names are put together?

I honestly don't see any original research involved in stating how a name can be spelt, especially in this case as it is really an obvious and standard pronunciation and not some rare variant. Minikui (talk) 10:59, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Michiru_Yuimoto.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to
    di-replaceable fair use disputed
}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before

13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 22:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:AnimeSuki logo.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:AnimeSuki logo.JPG. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Adminship

Hey. I asked you if you wanted to be an admin back in August, and you declined. I'm just checking in to see if your view on whether you think you would be ready for it has changed. Wizardman 21:52, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, basically it depends on whether you would plan to be an admin who sticks to something specific. Basically, a read through this: Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list should help with what is expected of an admin. Since you're mainly an article writer, AfD would probably be something you would want to participate in more before i nominate you, to understand how that area works (we can always use admins to close discusions there). If you have any other questions let me know. Wizardman 22:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Wolf's Rain and image placement

I undid your moving of the soundtrack image in Wolf's Rain. You edit summary said: "MOS concern; when lefting images, they have to go above 3-level or lower headers, not below.' Can you point out where it states this in the MoS? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Please explain your edit summary of "Clearly fails

WP:FUC. And please answer here, as I like to keep conversations together :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:19, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

At
WP:FUC it states: Low- rather than high-resolution/fidelity/bit rate is used (especially where the original could be used for deliberate copyright infringement). This rule also applies to the copy in the Image: namespace. I believe 400px is much too high a resolution for that image, and when I came to the article my immediate impression was the it was very obstructive. The point is that it needs to be at a lower resolution, or it fails fair-use under WP:FUC. And I do not believe 300px makes the characters indistinguishable in the least. This also applies to the exceptionally large image down below.-- 02:27, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict) It is very low resolution compared to the original, which is a full size poster (thousands of pixels wide). For the size in the article, it was sized to fill up the white space beside the menu, something done in a few other character articles since we only get 1-3 group images anyway. I tend to be a fair use fanatic and will often resize other FU images to get them down to size. I do not believe it fails fair use. I believe it continues to meet the policy guidelines, which apply only to the image in the name space, not to what size its used at in the article itself (that would just be the image placement guideline). However, if you strongly feel it does, I will go ahead and resize the uploaded image down another notch. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:34, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
FOr the image below, you mean the black and white one? It very clearly meets FUR, which also states that the smallest dimension should be 300px. That image is 300 x 485. It can not go any smaller without making it impossible to distinguish Duke in the back. He's already hard to see as it is. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:35, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
The policy I quotes above says lower res is used in the image space and article space, so it doesn't only apply to what is used in the image space, as you just tried to say above. I also realize that the black/white image is under 300px width, but it's still very large due to it's length. I'm willing to bring up the issue at
WP:RFC in order to get clarification, and see if anyone else agrees with me.-- 02:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, please do so, as I feel that it clearly meets the requirements. It doesn't just illustrate the group, but also is necessary to be clear enough to show Duke's outfit, as its resemblance to the KKK outfit is specifically discussed in the text and an illustration to show this is relevant. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:41, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Adding categories to redirects

Interesting, so there's a standard/guideline somewhere that states that the categories should be at the redirect page instead of the redirected page? That's very odd in my opinion, but anyway... --

Care to offer any views in this mess? I'm getting rather frustrated by the resident editors responses and am tempted to just let the article sink and delist it in two weeks as noted, since they don't seem to be inclined to actually address the issues. Think they have any valid points on the images, Diclonus section, etc? Do I? :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:45, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Any particular reason you think its very doubtful CD Japan will get an article? It, and its parent Neowing, certainly seem to meet the relevant notability requirements.-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Were you planning on creating articles for Neowing and CD Japan? Why is CD Japan notable enough for an article (and who would even be motivated enough to write one?). From what I've found, almost no one writes articles for companies or establishments, especially if they're relatively unknown.-- 07:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
No, but that doesn't mean it will never be created. :P CDJapan/Neowing is a widely used exporter of Japanese CDs and would seem to meet the business notability requirements. True on companies...most people only make a company article to complain or advertise it. We have some, though, and slowly cleaning them up. No real reason they shouldn't be able to be brought up to GA, but that's another whole issue (not added by the lack of a clear editing guideline) :P Anyway, I'm just saying I would think Neowing, like AnimeOnDVD.com, could eventually get an article and was curious as to why you disagreed. I'm not going to undo your delinking. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:18, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll be honest, I never even heard of Neowing until I came to Wiki and a lot of the time when I would do media research for a series, I would get at least one link by Neowing or CD Japan (I've used both as cites in articles before mind). But, the chances are still very low, especially for something like AnimeOnDVD since you already have to have an air of caution for websites per
Marvelous Interactive, etc.). Very few people care to make articles about companies or magazines, which often leaves needless redlinks which could otherwise be a very passive ao (; blue).-- 07:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I've used both as well, though they really are technically the same company :P AoD is pretty easy to establish notability, its got industry support, just hard to find much history on it. One of those "one day" articles.
Beez Entertainment is my one company creation, though also contemplating Public Square Books. I think maybe part of it is that with companies, you have similar requirements to biographies, but likely the larger part is our greater portion of editors, unfortunately, prefer to write about plot and characters and other fictional elements than the real-world stuff. :( -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Elfen Lied

It's been three months since I've started working to upgrade it to an FA, with plot extensions, finding references and cleanup, but it seems like this user Collectonian has begun to disrupt us with her own personal interpretations on teh Manual of Style. Her interpretation has conflicted with my model for cleaning it up based on the Manual of Style, and she continually acts like she's the boss on this issue. User:Kraftlos has also been working with me, we both agree that this behaviour is being disruptive. We attempted to reach a conclusion that goes both ways, so I made some modifications to her revision; but she keeps insisting. My last edit involved making the plot summary more succinct and adding details on production and themes with more inline citations based on the Manual of Style, but it doesn't translate to her. Please offer your views on this one... ætərnal ðrAعon 07:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I find it hard to talk back and forth through edit summaries when I basicly can't find anything to edit (I can't play the demo right now as it's going to be absolutely ugly with all the friends and relatives around). So uhh, from what I can gather, Takahiro didn't actually collide directly onto Honoka, but instead he went flying after hitting the brakes I think , and crashed onto her, injuring her leg, helps pick up her groceries and then takes her home after seeing her puppy eyes. That's from what I can gather at least, don't know if it really helps. -- クラウド668 02:57, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I am wondering if you could find another word to describe Honoka. After replaying that scene where she meets Takahiro, I think that she's not as soft-spoken as
Actually I think I am just gonna call her lively, that seems to fit her more and given all she wants is to play when they meet during day 6. -- クラウド668 22:57, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Donut moved to User:Juhachi/gifts

I recently came across the thread of May 20 and was impressed with the way you handled yourself when people (to my way of thinking) got carried away with pov which as a graphic design background type I don't get. Hey, I am thinking of taking True Tears up to GAN, before that I am wondering if you have any feedbacks or such as for what needs to be changed or so, given your past experience with GAN. -- クラウド668 06:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey uhh, I am wondering if you think it's suitable to use the anime's DVD cover for the related media section (or maybe the manga's cover, if I can find one with a resolution high enough), since looking at it now it's kind of blank, and can perhaps use a picture to show how the adaptations are. -- クラウド668 09:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

First, you need to have a source stating that she is the most well known yandere. Second we are getting increasingly strict rules and interpretations of rules regarding fair use, so you have to be very careful how they are used. I may refer to this on a talk page and see what happens. WhisperToMe (talk) 18:12, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I guess, I just forgot about that rule (the three revert-rule). Anyway, these are petty disputes that I don't have time for, and I don't have the time to care about (too busy), so I'm going to drop this (let someone else handle this). --ChuChu (talk) 18:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Elfen Lied has been delisted from GA status

That Collectonian is throwing a tantrum again for not getting it her way. The past two weeks have involved us making several changes to the quality of the article, however she still seems dissatisfied and sent it to GAR, for which it was subsequently delisted. Something needs to be done, she's still the minority in this debate.

I've pretty much had it with her by now. Over the past two months, this article has formed 90% of all my Wikipedia work. Collectionian has obviously implied that all my work has amounted to nothign. Not only that, when she pointed out the problems in the article, several of us discussed it and worked on it. She's treating it as if we did nothing to improve it whatsoever. We added referencing, condensed the plot, used images only where appropriate, and corrected the tone and style. What more does she want?

This may get very ugly. I've worked very hard on this article, and I've had it with someone's opinion saying that my contributions are worthless. Heck, I may even leave Wikipedia, but not if this can be settled. ætərnal ðrAعon 02:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

P.S. I sent this to Kraftlos too, and he's with me on this. He said,

  • "I think it's interesting that there's no debate, no concensus with her."
  • "I wish this person would elaborate more in the reasoning on which specific criteria are not being met; I guess it's our job to read her mind."
  • " It's just the way she see things is the way things are, and any other way is wrong. It's kind of childish."

Says it all really. We've gt a case here. ætərnal ðrAعon 07:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I am wondering if you think that it'll be better to split

5's Plot and characters section into three subsections of Settings (and themes), Characters, and Story like the Key games' articles. Since I think the characters deserve a better summary of their personalities and such, and on top of that, Shino deserves to be mentioned (due to my own justification of character design and choice of voice actor), but I already lost the will to finish the demo (due to length, and the presence of voice acting in the full game) to get to the point where she shows up. -- クラウド668 12:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Request for comment

I would like request further comments from you on the

WT:MOS-AM#Page layout discussion. In case you've forgot, I'm the one who started the discussion by explaining the alternate way I arrange the articles I've gotten to GA. I commented to get the opinions of other editors, to see if anyone else (other than Collectonian
) had a legitimate objection to "my layout". No one else actually objected.

But

WP:PERFECT, but no article is. I tried to explain (see Talk:The Big O#Layout), but Collectonian
doesn't seem to listen to me.

Honestly, I just feel like she's

Re:
D.C. II: Da Capo II

Since I've been apparently gone for a few days I'm gonna reply here. I'd be more than happy to help with expanding/reshaping the Da Capo articles (espcially D.C. II's, given how I think it's kinda too in-universe trivial and somewhat confusing at parts), hopefully the countless hours I've spent on them will pay off (That'd be the anime only, seeing how it'd just be ugly if I buy the game and get it through border control). -- クラウド668 17:26, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't know why it's there, either. A bunch of parameters had been removed from the infobox and I added them back, and now that's showing up. --hamu♥hamu (TALK) 04:24, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Just an update, I've had to ask for help with this because it originates back to June 22, when you manually removed parameters from the infobox put in place by User:J Greb, the editor who created and maintains the infobox. Your changes did a lot more than just remove the "there is Korean here" box. I realize it was an accident and you probably weren't aware the box had been revamped. We'll get it figured out and fixed. :) --hamu♥hamu (TALK) 04:44, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Date-autoformatting

Hi there, Juhachi. I don't think we've met before. In response to your enquiry at MOSNUM talk, there's a response by Elliskev, who, since about 12 hours ago, has been raising a fuss about the fact that autoformatting has evolved from being mandatory (a year ago) to being optional. It's come to a head because several people now have a script that removes the autoformatting from a selected article. People who don't like change feel they've lost control when scripts and bots are used to change long-standing technical features. While I understand that mentality, I have no sympathy for it in this case, since autoformatting has significant problems that are unlikely to be fixed by MediaWiki. You're right: blue-splotch underlined dates have become part of the furniture; so much so, that newbies just accept it without asking why. The elephan in the living room is that our readers out there—the millions of them—see the bright blue but not the preference formatting (that is reserved for the Wikipedia elite that have logged in and chosen a preference).

Above all, many people believe that if we tolerate colour/color, we should have no problem tolerating 3 March / March 3; the differences are trivial, and I believe that WPians wrongly took up what is computer programmer's wonkery, back in ?2004 when it was written.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts. I can show you some before and afters, for comparison if you wish. TONY (talk) 01:59, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:ALBUMCAPS

Seeing as both "UNDERGROUND" and "happily ever after" are Japanese songs with English titles, and this nice subpage states that you should follow what the artist intended, the titles should not be written as "Underground" and "Happily ever after."—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:57, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

All of those items are guidelines, and not policy statements. Guidelines are suggestions or general trends. Not "you shall not stray from what is said here." As per that, I am not a fan of the application of that guideline, as these items are copyrighted (in Japan) as whatever capitalization they decide. I can understand how things do not appear encyclopedic with ALL CAPS or no caps, but it is the formatting that it originally came from.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 01:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Again, those are not the actual titles of the songs. The SciFi broadcast doesn't seem to change the names to fit with normal capitalization rules.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:13, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Comparing BLEACH and NARUTO to "UNDERGROUND" and "happily ever after" is apples to oranges. The latter are songs which probably aren't going to be released stateside. The former have names that have been released stateside.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:45, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I'm looking for Eduard Friedrich Mörike's opera "Eduard auf dem Seil" (according to Silpelit), but I can find any information, who ever has played it. If do you know any link to the information about performance this opera please drop me an e-mail at [email protected], because it seems till now, that nobody's played it ever. Kara no Kyokai images

I'm happy to help resolve the image situation (and am currently torrenting a collection of KnK promotional artwork that contains a suitable main cast shot, which I will then upload), but I'd like to give you a bit of constructive criticism. I assume you were doing your best to uphold content guidelines, but I'm worried about the confrontational methods you were using to resolve the situation.

First, on the policy, you are correct that group shots are strongly preferred to individual images (per

WP:NFC
), but this applies only in cases where group images are known to exist. In this case I happen to be aware of some usable group images for the series, but I saw no evidence in your contributions to the page that you knew of any specific ones. If you did know about them, then it would have been good of you to communicate this to avoid giving the impression of being unreasonable, or even just upload them yourself. If you did not, then you shouldn't have been removing the individual images for the major characters without giving the other editor the opportunity to seek group images out. Finding suitable group images can be a time-consuming task, especially for editors who don't know where to look, and in rare cases (usually video game pages, in my experience) they simply don't exist.

Second, since mass removal of images from lists has been historically disruptive, and usage of non-free images to illustrate major characters in fiction is allowed, I would like to suggest that you discuss the preferred illustration techniques with the editors on the page before (and rather than) removing them yourself. Stripping the images from a page is an extreme move, nearly always results in edit warring, and should be avoided unless the page editors are refusing to cooperate with reasonable reduction requests. Your tone in the edit summary of this revert is also rather incivil.

In conclusion, it would have been good of you to approach this situation with less haste and more finesse. Everything should come out OK in this case, but image use fights tend to get extraordinarily nasty, and avoiding disruption is just as important as enforcing guideline suggestions. Have a good day. --erachima talk 01:27, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Your view sounds a bit fatalistic. Also seems self-fulfilling: if you're editing under the premise that you're inevitably going to cause a fight, of course there will be one. Maybe I'm just lucky, but my experience has generally been the opposite. I find that most editors are willing to listen to suggestions and be educated about the rules and reasons behind them, though much less willing to listen to commands or be given the "policy is policy is policy" line. Forcefulness is sometimes necessary, but that's as a resort when discussion fails. Anyway, as long as you're willing to consider what I said, I'm happy.
As for what I'll do if he comes back and reverts the image, I'm going to try heading that off by talking to him about the reasons for the image policies and warning him about 3RR. If that doesn't work, then he'll of course end up blocked for edit warring, but I'll have done everything possible to prevent it. --erachima talk 03:17, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Re:Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl characters

Well, the present state of the article, IMO, is way better than how it started. The lead needs to summarize the reception section, and if you have conception information, that would be nice (but not required if it doesn't exist). The big problem I had with the "characterization" section was that it was entirely drawn from primary sources, and was teetering on

I was wondering if you were interested in taking Strawberry Panic! to FAC again now that the reassessment's closed and the article's been copyedited. -Malkinann (talk) 05:38, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

That's the spirit! :D Please consider nominating it some time before the end of this year... perhaps it could make front page for Valentine's? (if Romeo and Juliet hasn't made it to FA by then...) -Malkinann (talk) 06:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Memories Off Pure

Hey uhh, just wondering if you can give a little suggestion on this matter. So, I was peeking at

After Story or Refrain
). As well, since most of the information available in the Pure article has already been included in the Memories Off article (except the plot and characters, which I still have yet to get to for Memories Off but will eventually), I myself think there's a pretty good reason to merge the two. Still, I am wondering what you'd think, just to see if someone else would agree with me on this matter.

By the way, did you read that short interview in the August issue of Dengeki Hime? Since that seems to have some useful info for Little Busters! Ecstasy. -- クラウド668 06:39, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Since I would be taking a long break from Case Closed articles, I would use some time on restructuring List of Lucky Star characters. However, there are two things that carry my concern:

  1. For character lists I tend to follow the philosophy of "highly ref-fed skeleton" as in my "model" attempt of Yutaka. However I wonder if that would make the entire article under-informed.
  2. Most English-language fans has not read the manga, and did not realize that many anime material are purely anime. For example, Konata did not mention any preference to any anime/manga series for the first 2 volumes of the manga I've read. This could cause a problem in presenting the material...--Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 04:20, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

I don't know if you have noticed this before, but there is apparently a Bishōjo Game Awards that hands out award to bishōjo games (similar to Getchu.com's). This would probably be a reliable source seeing it has a committee (which interestingly, the head editor of PCPress is in, according to a news post last week), and would probably help with the reception section in some articles, and maybe help establishing notability. -- クラウド668 08:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Good article nominations; or stop selling yourself short

So I was browsing through the visual articles, and I noticed that you (along with User:Cloud668) have worked a lot of really good articles up but never bothered to go through the GA process.

I have nominated the following twelve articles:

I feel pretty confident in these articles' ability to pass. Some might get put on hold for minor squabbles, but I don't really see any of them failing for a general lack of information.

GA review turnover is pretty slow at the moment. In all likelihood, they probably won't get around to being reviewed until next year. So any polishing you think any of the articles might need can be done over the next couple of weeks.

I think it should be interesting how this turns out. If most of them pass, then we'll know that your style of visual novel article writing works, and it'll be easier to nominate such articles in the future. If they fail, then no harm done; we just get comments on how to improve them (it's like a more productive peer review).--Remurmur (talk) 12:14, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

This is wrong on several levels. First, you are not a primary contributor, so nominating these articles without notifying the primary contributors and asking whether it would be appropriate is simply rude and inappropriate. Next, as you aren't a primary contributor, you have zero idea on whether these articles are comprehensive, the sourcing is
WP:GAN is not a glorified peer review. If you're not seriously going for GA status, then don't bother. And before you claim that you're serious, you're not. These are drive-by noms from a person who has no investment of effort in any of these articles besides putting the nomination template on them. All you're going to do is clog the process and waste the time of the GA reviewers. I highly recommend you withdraw all of them. — sephiroth bcr (converse) 12:42, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Wow, I was wondering if Juhachi would know, and it's in his talk page already. Well, there are reasons that I didn't nominate my articles to GAN. Memories Off and Suika are lacking plot sections, Yotsunoha is lacking a more comprehensive plot section (While plot information is discouraged, they shouldn't be that short), and True Tears is lacking a comprehensive reception section (and heck, I would've nominated it back during May if it wasn't because of that). Moreover, in my opinion, they are in a lack of reliable sources. I do appreciate the fact that you have nominated them, but they don't qualify
WP:GAC, and would be a waste of time for the GAN reviewers. -- クラウド668 16:57, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Just needing a little opinion. I am wondering if you think a character who has passed away should be referred in present tense or past tense. Normally it would be past tense, but since she infrequently "materialzed" (in the OVA, not far enough into the visual novel yet to know), and is the main focus of a whole

story arc, I don't really know how I should be referring to her. -- クラウド668 09:42, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I was really worried about you, Juhachi

Juhachi!!! I am so glad that you are A-OK. I was getting a bit worried that something had happened to you. In your absence, I have toiled diligently to become a consummate Wikipedia editor. I am sure that you can see that I have been a frequent visitor if you look at the revision history pages. I am really starting to like contributing to Wikipedia and I would like it a lot more if I could work alongside you. Leave a message on my talk page sometime.

Juhachi, it seems to me that you are not fond of my adding the ancillary characters that make a cameo appearance in the various episodes (and the story arcs there of) in Telepathy Shoujo Ran. The rationale behind that is that most of my Telepathy Shoujo Ran episode synopses are the length that they are because of defining the ancillary character's actions during the course of the episode. Simply put, such a synopsis explains the episode but also makes the decision to define the ancillary character or adversary regardless of what the reader wants. Therefore, if the ancillary characters and adversaries are defined on a separate page, that affords a shorter synopsis . . . which is your primary gripe with me. If you are willing to guide me through it, I will set up a page for those *minor than minor characters* away from the main article that then gives everybody a choice about whether to read it or not. Let me know your perspective on my talk page and we will proceed from there.

Hey, sorry to see that it didn't get promoted. I feel especially bad as I said that I would copy-edit before the nomination ended. Unfortunately, a lot of other people swamped me with copy-edit requests, and I kind of forgot about this. Hopefully, I can look at this early in the new year and you can bring it back to FLC.
