AfD
Hi, I noticed that you recently gave your vote on the AfD on List of United States presidents by handedness. The article has since then undergone significant changes. This is not an attempt at canvassing, but I would like to ask you to take a second look at the article, to decide if you wish to reconsider your position. Many thanks! Replaceable fair use Image:Life_of_Mencius.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Life_of_Mencius.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before

HEY KNOWL, at the first of the month u responded to a guy named shovon on my talk page. what was then a small argument has now turned into a full scale cyber-war that i didnt want to happen. He wont leave me alone so I tried talking to him about it, that didnt work so I tried do NOT talk to him and that hasnt worked i tried reporting him to the administrators but nothing happened. Im seriousy thinking about quitting wikipedia if this is going to happen every time i try to contribute. what should I do??Raja1020 (talk) 15:51, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- You should definately start quoting Wiki-rules to him. That always works. Or you can blog about your problems and brood about how unfair the world can be. One of those. -Knowl -<(I am questing for Knowledge!) (talk) 18:20, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Wiki RP
Hi there, I realized about this game of yours while browsing thorugh Wikipedia, and I think that it is a rather good idea. I would be interested in joining in your "great cause for the truth and honour", and hopefully that you, as the DM, would allow me to enter you mini game. All the best, Zheliel (talk) 04:37, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oh and by the way, what should I link Wiki RP to when introducing it to others? Your RP subpage or Your user page? Zheliel (talk) 04:37, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hail Zheliel! Link to the Your RP subpage please or the all-seeing mods will mercilessly smite down your page.

Richard Spratley
Hi, I've been researching Richard Spratly too and found your article quite helpful. However, I am deeply sceptical about whether the Richard Spratly who was master of the Cyrus is the same Richard Spratly who was a butcher in Chesham. Many of the dates simply don't add up. The crucial one for me would be 1851 where the census records him working as a butcher in Chesham while on 11 April 1851 he writes a letter to the Nautical Magazine from the South Sea. If he was born in 1811, is it likely that he was captain of the Cyrus by 1834 - when he was just 23 years old? I think a much better candidate for our Richard Spratly was one born in 1802 in Poplar who died in Brentwood in 1870. in 1861 the census records him as being master of the Atalante, though not living abroad. What evidence do you have that ties the master of the Cyrus to the butcher's shop in Chesham? --Billthesceptic (talk) 09:23, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I much enjoyed the article on Richard Spratly and was interested in his connections with Chesham which I have been working on for some time. I had a quick look at the 1841 1851 and 1861 censuses for the town which features at least two if not three generations of Spratleys with the name Richard who are a family of butchers. The most likely contender was a Richard Spratley born in 1811 who was in the town in 1841 and 1851 and in 1861 was married to Fanny. Could this be him as he appears to have been in England on these dates, or was our hero elsewhere being a captain by then?Tmol42 (talk) 18:36, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Many thanks! I'm glad I didn't write this all for nothing, eh? ;-) These dates defiantly match the times he would have been in the area. In 1841 he did return to port. I have no information beyond 1838-1844 on either side. I would venture that there is a 99% chance this is our man! Could you send me a link or scan of your reference?
- In 1841 the three Richard Spratleys were living together in the High St in Chesham. In turn they were recorded as born approx in 1778 (father a Butcher ), 1806(son a Butcher), and 1832( a nephew of 1806 Richard). NB ages were normally rounded to the nearest 5. So in 1807 it would have been the father you found. The source for this was Ancestry.co.uk which is a subscription site but the census record Source Citation is: Class: HO107; Piece 47; Book: 4; Civil Parish: Chesham; County: Buckinghamshire; Enumeration District: 4; Folio: 11; Page: 17; Line: 16; In 1851 Richard S born 1811 was living with his brother William a Butcher and mother Martha ( now a widow ) and nephey Richard in the High St. In 1861 Richard is recorded as age 50 and married to Fanny and a butcher in a yard off the High St. NB none of the references to the name spell it as Spratly though. Hope this helpsTmol42 (talk) 17:03, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Bemused and Bewildered
Can't say I don't like this idea of turning ones editing experiences into points and gaining levels through the process... but honestly, I need some help here. I just added my name to the list of players playing Wiki RP. What happens next? How do I keep track of how many experience points I gain?? How do I ascend levels and get to know which level I'm playing in at the moment?? I've never played MMORPG's, by the way.. Please illuminate me..!! La Alquimista 17:56, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- First off, its not serious. Relax. Check the source code. There is a command that calculate exp for you. Also, click the link next to "level" and you'll find a reference sheet. You can set up your user page exactly like mine or do it your own way. Just have fun. There is also a like to the rules if you click on the WIKI-RP box link. Just so you know, I do not spend any serious amount of time on this. Probably like one minute per week.
Source code?? Where? Where? La Alquimista 08:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- You know, when you are editing a page. Like this:
Level 24 Wikipedian [http://www.monkeysushi.net/gaming/DnD/XP%20table.html REF] $: 3c 0s 0g Experience Points: '''{{NUMBEROFEDITS}}''' (Based on contribution watch list scoring)
Have fun! -Knowl -<(I am questing for Knowledge!) (talk) 08:16, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ah... I get it now. Me being stupid as usual. Thanks a ton though. La Alquimista 16:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
One Last Question
The number of experience points depends on the number of edits of a user, right?? So, how come you are level 24, given that you've got only 538 edits under your sleeve?? Neck deep in confusion here. Sorry for being such a bother... La Alquimista 06:26, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Its actually based on the number of characters you have either added or removed. Next to each edit in your watchlist is a green or red number indicating removal or addition of information. -Knowl -<(I am questing for Knowledge!) (talk) 07:17, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

All's Well that Ends Well??
So Wiki RP was a hoax? Or are we still allowed to play it/ maintain our logs as long as we don't take it too seriously or advertise it as a MMO?? Surely the thing isn't going to be over this soon? I was sorta starting to enjoy it..... La Alquimista 11:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Its not a REAL game. It was a joke format for the user page. As long as you stick to the pre-made Wiki-RP boxes I think you can still use it.

Re:Catholic Dispute
Here in the U.K., it's also known by most people as the Roman Catholic Church. But I have recently learned that this term is discouraged by the Church's hierarchy because that prefix only applies to the Diocese of Rome, and also because of the fact that the Latin (or Western) Rite is now found all around the world and not exclusively in former Roman territories. —Preceding

Trivia in number articles
You have added "sourced" (but to self-published websites by a non-notable person) trivia to a "number" of Number articles. Please don't. Specific examples:
- 2000 (number). Check, self-published by a non-notable person.
- 3000 (number). Check, self-published by a non-notable person.
- 8 (number). Restoring IP deletion of sports trivia without sufficient information to determine what sport is involved, not to mention what league or team or person. The guidelines suggest that only retired numbers in teams in professional leagues be included, although I haven't been deleting numbers generally worn by certain Hall of Fame members in professional leagues, nor numbers retired by college teams.
— Arthur Rubin (talk) 08:16, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I was going from a source in old Rabbinic Scriptures, but you're right. I should have referenced that a little better. And whoever deleted the first source should note WHY or it could be mistaken for vandalism. -Knowl -<(I am questing for Knowledge!) (talk) 16:11, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you're referencing the Kabbalah (as seems likely), you probably should specify that. I suspect that's the only old Jewish works which have large specific numbers other than counts. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 16:20, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- And those numbers which I removed were 3-digit numbers, rather than the 4-digit numbers I'm referring to here. In any case, a source for the significance of your source would need to be added. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 16:22, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah ha! I see what you are referring to now. No, those formulas were not self-published. Those were formulas that someone else discovered and published elsewhere online.

Hi!
Honorary mention of your contribs to the Astrology section of Ophiuchus, now moved to Ophiuchus (astrology), here. I'm going to cleanoff a little this and that mythological stuff, mainly by splitting of articles where appropriate. The older constellations generally have a very long history and symbollogy, so this is a way to specialize articles in the three categories astronomy, mythology and astrology. Keep on editing! (BTW, I added a spell on the WIKI-RP spell list that I thought would be gravely needed). ... said: Rursus (mbork³) 09:47, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
