Help with Alexander the Great (disambiguation)

Look like we've got another trouble-maker [1]. His edit comment was "you know that the Skopje airport bears Alexanders name, don't you? and we know that it's unknown if the ancient Macedonians were greeks or a separate people." I don't even know what that means. He seems to be non-responsive to good 'ol logic. Any pointers? I'm thinking of applying for an edit lock. I can't remember the last time someone actually made a constructive edit to this disambig page, and we've been having nothing but trouble from these.. I don't even know what to call them.. activists? Either way, this group of people obviously has some kind of anti-Greek agenda they're trying to push. Please see the talk page for a related note. Any help or ideas you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks. --ž¥łǿχ (ŧäłķ | čøŋŧřīъ§) 20:34, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm not totally uninvolved regarding this issue. I know Cukiger relatively well, and I can say he's trying to push the view that
Republic of Macedonia. That's why he's making these edits (and the whole United Macedonia stuff of course). I as most people with common sense find such claims ridiculous, but there's nothing to be done, really, besides keeping the page clean from any lame stuff. I'll help you keeping the article clean, but from my experience this and other editors just don't like to discuss such issues - just look at the comment left on my talkpage previously - here - they do have the time to revert, but not to give a proper reason. --Laveol T

Comment

The problem is this! I do not like to see your comments on articles where you are not involved in the discussion. If I talk with someone there is no need or obligation to be involved you. Why you are writing on talk pages where is not mentioned even the letter L of the name Laveol? I do not need rest doctor, in fact I am in very good mood.--MacedonianBoy (talk) 17:11, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Lol, I have every right to edit each article I like to. If I find it full with unsourcable, unencyclopaedic information I have every right to tag it appropriately. Other people besides you can edit Wikipedia and you're not its owner (I know I've already told you that). And drop the sarcasm - I've asked you for this as well. I'm not a doctor and there's no need to call me names. It was a friendly advice - I've received such advice in the past (you can check it if you like) and it does really help. If you don't want to take it - fine, but don't call me like that. --Laveol T 17:19, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

>Friendly advice from you I do not need it. Thanks!--MacedonianBoy (talk) 17:23, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, your choice. --Laveol T 17:24, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Serres-Nevrokop dialect

VMORO 12:50, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, the problem is I'm in no way a linguist and this stops me from making substantial edits to the article. Those reverting you though are not linguists as well. I hope they'll try and work with some facts if they want to continue reverting you. --Laveol T 17:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Thank you for the response:-) I posted a generic request on a page (hopefully the right one) so we'll see if someone volunteers. But anyway, I am going on vacation tomorrow so I won't be around for a week. VMORO 01:10, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Vague question

Sorry for the vague question and apologies in advance for any wrongly reported information. In the discussion regarding the 'Macedonian Slavic Languages' there was mention by some administrator - Future Perfect Sunrise - about a 'fake' map which you were debating with MacedoniaBoy. Could you tell me what that map was - if you know? Can you direct me to that discussion? Thanks. By the way, I am off to your neighbourhood for to do my research for a fewe days, hope the weather is not as vicious and unreasonable as some people I could mention :-) Politis (talk) 16:31, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, at first MacedonianBoy was trying to introduce a false map, alright. It was by a Polish professor, I remember that, but it was some time ago and I'm not sure if I can remember it right. I'll try to dig something out, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. It was a rough discussion there, we even had Fut. Perf. using the f.. word a couple of times. I don't think the map is justified, mostly cause its based on one Western source (partially) and the others come from RoM. As for the weather - you'll be more than welcome in Sofia. Since this evening the temperature has fallen to 20 degrees or something and it'll be quite refreshing the next couple of days. It'd be so much better than the 38 C from earlier today. :)--Laveol T 19:51, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Don't forget, the map that you said was fake had nothing to do with the dialect map we were discussing. The fake map was a demographic map of Eastern Europe or something, I can't reconstruct in what context you were discussing it, but it was entirely unrelated to the dialect issue and was never used as a source for it. Fut.Perf. 20:18, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, yup and nope, I remember it was at the time PMK turned in and they tried out with a fake map at first - it was a remake of another one. They (or maybe he) even posted a request for it to be re-drawn by another user. But, yeah, the current one s not based on it, but on another one by ... well, you know my opinion on the subject, so let's not start it all over again. --Laveol T 20:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Everything ok?

You seem to be less bubbly than your usually cheerful self today. BalkanFever 13:07, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm, nope :)) I don't see why we should have irrelevant names though ;) --Laveol T 13:09, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Me either. Want to get rid of Greek? BalkanFever 13:10, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm actually reading the whole thing right now, but you know my opinion on having names of cities in other languages besides that of the country itself. And especially in the lead. --Laveol T 13:13, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Indeed. Although today this place is a village, and it's only known because of the Aromanians (and Ali PAsha's razing) BalkanFever 13:18, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
