AfD nomination of Statoids

I have nominated Statoids, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Statoids. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Unspecified source for Image:Jerichoflag.svg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jerichoflag.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on

Conclusion: Image placeholders centralized discussion

Hi. I'm sending this to you because you participated in the Centralized discussion on image placeholders that ended on 23 April.

That discussion must produce a conclusion.

We originally asked "Should the addition of this box [example right] be allowed? Does the placeholder system and graphic image need to be improved to satisfy policies and guidelines for inclusion? Is it appropriate to some kinds of biographies, but not to others?" (See introduction).

Conclusions to centralized discussions are either marked as 'policy', 'guideline', 'endorsed', 'rejected', 'no consensus', or 'no change' etc. We should now decide for this discussion.

Please read and approve or disapprove the section here: Conclusion --Kleinzach (talk) 10:51, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note this message conforms to

WP:CANVASSING
and has not been sent to anyone has not already participated in the centralized discussion.

Renamed countries

Frankly, I don't know everything that this issue is about, and don't have time to investigate it right now, but I must take issue with a statement you made in a posting to an anon's talk page. You said, "Nobody is going to be looking for "Upper Volta" or "Rhodesia" in a list of countries." I could not disagree more. There are plenty of us old farts out there who may not have kept up on their geography, but remember what we learned when we were younger. I can perfectly well envision someone in their 50s or 60s looking at a map of Africa for Upper Volta, and maybe realizing that the name has changed but not remembering its exact location so that they can look up its history. And there are a lot of countries in Africa that are named differently today than they once were.

None of this is to say that you were wrong in doing whatever edit you did to which you are referring. As I said, I can't look into it now, and whatever you did may very well have been okay. I am only taking issue with your comment, whic I found quite presumptuous. Happy editing. Unschool (talk) 16:24, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Anthony Rosato

section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox
for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
