That is not the case. There was much duplicate information because I move the list-oriented information out of the lead and down into the body of the text. The lead is supposed to be a summary of the rest of the article, not a laundry list.--Livingrm (talk) 00:54, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You added two sentences to the Intro to this article. It was my intent in drafting this material to address the topic of how Jungian psychology thinks about religion, and to minimize duplicating information about Jung's personal history, which by rights should be in the article about Jung himself. In the Treatment of Western Religions section, I quote from his memoir, since his disappointment about communion lends insight into Jung's overall diagnosis of the morbidity of Western religion.

1. If you believe it's additionally useful to know that his father was a minister of a certain denomination (a verifiable fact), please move that to the section just before his communion experience (although this is in the Jung article). That he was a Deist seems more arguable, and you don't provide the reader with a connection between this "fact" and his interpretation of religion. Also, is the reference (a PhD thesis) by Ridgway published? And is Ridgway's labeling of Jung as a Deist authoritative? I'd rather see this in the article about Jung.

2. The Dawkins' quote is consistent with what Jung said when asked about the existence of God: "I don't believe, I know". (I left this quote out because it appears in a video recording; I haven't found an authoritative transcript.) Dawkins is not contributing anything to the Jungian interpretation of religion, but evaluating Jung's beliefs on a assessment tool of his own devising. If we are going to add to this article about Jung's experiential knowledge of God, then we ought to say something about his essential gnosticism (a good label that precedes Dawkins). We could create a new concluding section to fold in the quote, Dawkins' assessment and something about the similarity between Jung's own approach and that of gnosticism.

I tried to put a link from the WP BLP to the "Jung's Int..." page but someone else reverted, claiming that his views on religion and his own religion are not integrated. That does not ring true to me. I am not an expert. Maybe you can ask the reverter about this?--Livingrm (talk) 23:06, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
