RE:Turismo Carretera

Hello MSportWiki. First of all, thank you for your editions about Turismo Carretera in English Wikipedia. The championship has a high level and I am glad that people are starting to talk about it outside of South America.

It is not usual for me to edit the articles of the TC seasons in Spanish, which have a different style than the rest of the Spanish Wikipedia. I know those articles use two different tables for results and for championship points, which I don't really like. What I thought is to do something similar to what they do in the IMSA articles (*), where there is a column for overall championship points and another for the Michelin Endurance Cup. The first column would be called "Points" and the second "Cup", "CDO" (Copa de Oro) or "Playoff". Logically this second column would be filled in only with the 12 playoff drivers. What do you think?

Perhaps a different color could be used as they use in NASCAR (*) to differentiate the drivers who have been falling in the playoff throughout the rounds. In the TC articles to differentiate the 12 playoff drivers from the rest.

It is worth mentioning that I do not speak English very well. Any questions, write me. Greetings. --Nordschleife 00 (talk) 21:57, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate your efforts. I agree that the way Spanish Wiki does the results and championship standings is not the right way to go about this. Separate championship standings tables for 'Regular season' and 'Copa de Oro' sound like the best way to differentiate, so we should do it like that. If drivers are eliminated from the Copa de Oro like in the current NASCAR system (again, reiterating that I'm not entirely familiar with how a lot of TC works given all of the available news is in Spanish) then we should use colours like NASCAR season articles do. The only potential problem is that it will take a lot of time to fill in the standings tables given how many drivers and races there are.
As a side note, I am not planning on making any more event articles after 2023 Desafío de las Estrellas or 2023 Buenos Aires Grand Prix as these events, from my understanding, appear to be the most important events on the 2023 calendar. MSportWiki (talk) 00:25, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
First I explain the format. The structure is as follows: the qualy defines the winner of the pole position. With the result of the qualy, the heats grids are formed. P1 goes to heat 1, P2 to heat 2, P3 to heat 3, P4 to heat 1 (in P2) and so on. With the results of the three heats, the grid for the final race is formed. The three winners of the heats occupy the first three positions, the second from P4 to P6, the third from P7 to P9 and so on. The order of which winner is placed in P1, who in P2 and who in P3 depends on the total time of each heat. The winner of the fastest heat is placed P1, the second of that heat in P4, the third in P7 and so on. The winner of the second fastest heat in P2... Do you understand? This must be added to the main article of Turismo Carretera. I see that it is not even in the article in Spanish.
Regarding the ideas you mention, I prefer the second.--Nordschleife 00 (talk) 01:01, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nordschleife 00: It's the last bit about the Final race – "The winner of the fastest heat is placed P1, the second of that heat in P4, the third in P7 and so on..." – that I don't understand, because in the 2023 Buenos Aires Grand Prix Quijada from Heat 1 started the final P1, but then Craparo started P4 and he came from Heat 2 and not Heat 1? And I know from watching the race that Craparo did start P4, and he wasn't the fastest in Qualifying out of himself/Ugalde/Krujoski for the second round of positions either so that can't be it. MSportWiki (talk) 05:41, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I was wrong. This is what the 2023 sports regulations say:
The best time of the heats played will be placed in the P1 and so on the grid will be integrated with the best times respecting the position of each heats.
That is to say: the first, second and third best time (total time) of the heats (they will order the first three), then the first, second and third best time of those classified second in each heats, then the first, second and third best time of those classified third, etc., etc., so on with all the drivers who completed all the laps stipulated for each heats, then those who completed one (1) lap less, ordered by position and best times obtained, then with two (2) less laps, ordered in the same way, etc. etc., and so on gradually, until completing the quota of vehicles determined in the organization chart for the final race.
Going to your example, the three P2 of each heat were: Craparo (7:39.403), Ugalde (7:39.742) and Krujoski (9:56.359). That order is established by the total time of EACH DRIVER. --Nordschleife 00 (talk) 16:39, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just added a section to the main article about the weekend format. I ask you to check that it is understood. There maybe words that can be replaced by more commonly used synonyms. I ask you the same with the Playoff section that I will surely add soon. --Nordschleife 00 (talk) 17:10, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense, thanks. When you do add the 'playoffs' section, I suggest that you put it under the "Format" subheading above the "Event" section. MSportWiki (talk) 23:01, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
