- I proudly accept the award. If your ESP is working, you should now be seeing me taking my bows. — Maile (talk) 13:15, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, I was driving to work but I think I felt something--then again maybe I've been playing Tonight's the Night too often. How's it going Maile? Still here after all these years, I see: thank you for that. Ima go see what other AfDs you been in, just to mess with you. Take care! Drmies (talk) 14:37, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Maile, it may be the Dutchman in me, but when I look at Hofstra University rape hoax I'm tempted to delete this on the spot as a BLP violation! Drmies (talk) 14:39, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- You are welcome to look through my edits of anything, as far as I'm concerned. I have no idea what you are getting at here. But there have been a lot of AFDs ... just within the last 12 months. The thing about AFD is, like all of Wikipedia, anybody can join in, regardless if they know WP's complicated, and often conflicting, guidelines on anythig and anybody. And you can often find a WP guideline to justify any direction of something. — Maile (talk) 16:18, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Just joking, my friend--but I'm glad I saw that Hofstra thing. You run into these old things and you wonder how they got written up in the first place, and how they managed to stay around. How long do you think our project will last? Drmies (talk) 16:26, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- The overall Wikipedia project? I believe it will out-live me. Judging from the Deceased Wikipedians/2024, Jimbo Wales dreamed up a doozie of international connections when he created Wikipedia. We all have become an international family. — Maile (talk) 20:26, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page for Review - A Question
Hello User:Maile66,
I need some guidance or help. I have contributed to this namespace,
Shmuel Rosenman for a little while when time permits. I have been interested in researching this subject's life. I cannot see it in a Google search like the other pages I have created or contributed.
I noticed you reviewed a page just the other day that I was working on, Sandy White Hawk.
Do you know how to get the Shmuel Rosenman page listed in a search? I would love to learn.
Thank you for your help, 8barzmusic (talk) 17:02, 13 April 2024 (UTC)8barzmusic[reply]
- Not entirely sure what you are asking me, but maybe you don't mean Google. I have the feeling you might be talking about Newpages, which is strictly Wikipedia. It's automatic that when a new Wikipedia article is created, it shows up automatically on that list, and Wikipedia editors can review what shows up there. Beyond that, I have no idea how Google lists things. — Maile (talk) 17:42, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tech News: 2024-16
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Problems
- Between 2 April and 8 April, on wikis using Flagged Revisions, the "Reverted" tag was not applied to undone edits. In addition, page moves, protections and imports were not autoreviewed. This problem is now fixed. [1][2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 April. It will be on all wikis from 18 April (calendar). [3][4]
- Default category sort keys will now affect categories added by templates placed in footnotes. Previously footnotes used the page title as the default sort key even if a different default sort key was specified (category-specific sort keys already worked). [5]
- A new variable
page_last_edit_age
will be added to abuse filters. It tells how many seconds ago the last edit to a page was made. [6]
Future changes
- Volunteer developers are kindly asked to update the code of their tools and features to handle temporary accounts. Learn more.
- Four database fields will be removed from database replicas (including Quarry). This affects only the
abuse_filter
andabuse_filter_history
tables. Some queries might need to be updated. [7]

Page Review Question
Greetings,
I was wondering how I could get a page reviewed. I noticed you reviewed a page I created recently. would you be able to help me find where to request a page review for Kathryn Fort, or find out if it has been reviewed?
Thank you, --8barzmusic (talk) 16:53, 17 April 2024 (UTC)8barzmusic[reply]
- The prior article was just a random pick from the Newpages listings. Also, the Newpages reviews are not necessarily a full review. It really depends on which project the subject matter is. I would encourage you to ask questions about Kathryn Fort at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red. They can be pretty helpful with advice and guidance. For leanning the ropes, and getting reviews, it's helpful to be part of a project such as Women in Red. You might want to join up with that project. — Maile (talk) 18:14, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recent changes
- Starting this week, newcomers editing Wikipedia will be encouraged to try structured tasks. Structured tasks have been shown to improve newcomer activation and retention. [8]
- You can nominate your favorite tools for the fifth edition of the Coolest Tool Award. Nominations will be open until May 10.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 April. It will be on all wikis from 25 April (calendar). [9][10]
Future changes
- This is the last warning that by the end of May 2024 the Vector 2022 skin will no longer share site and user scripts/styles with old Vector. For user-scripts that you want to keep using on Vector 2022, copy the contents of Special:MyPage/vector.js to Special:MyPage/vector-2022.js. There are more technical details available. Interface administrators who foresee this leading to lots of technical support questions may wish to send a mass message to your community, as was done on French Wikipedia. [11]
