I've noticed a tendency to not translate the Japanese names of songs on albums by Japanese artists. Is this part of a guideline or what?—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 20:24, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if it's part of a guideline (perhaps this needs addressing) but the translations are always so variant, and the methods of translation are typically shoddy at best. There's also the problem of words which can be... alternately romanized, in which case the translation could be very flexible. Generally, if you can cite the translations, most editors will find that acceptable (so it's helpful to have so-called "official translations"). Maybe it's worth bringing it up at the Japan WikiProject? You aren't alone in finding this area a tad too grey. --Jacob Talk 21:36, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I have generally been translating whatever I can when it comes to the singular song titles that aren't already in English. And I tend to avoid the people at that WikiProject because I don't agree with what to do with song titles and whatnot when it's already in English.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:43, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding a "certain" song title. I've never taken any "linguistic anthropology" classes or whatever the hell, but I believe that although "many" sites "use" Kunrei-shiki it doesn't mean Wikipedia does. Wikipedia uses revised Hepburn. Therefore, adding "Syokubeni" really doesn't do much good, other than confuse people who may not understand the many romanizations of Japanese. Thank you.Moocowsrule (talk) 00:19, 18 October 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
- I think it is even more confusing to have only a mention of "Shokubeni", when many files online are tagged with "Syokubeni", and making the less-knowledgeable listeners confused as to what is right, and what is wrong. But I will try to make that wording crystal clear, because I'm sure there is a way. --Jacob Talk 02:29, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Stylisation
Hello you. I have seen you have reverting my edits, regarding to stylisation. The reason why I have done this, is because it's the correct song and album titles. Shouldn't people, who would like to seek information about the songs, have the correct song titles?

There is a discussion about changing Dir en grey to Dir En Grey. Seeing a preposition like "en" capitalized bugs me, so I'm suggesting Dir en Grey. Can you weigh in on the issue? Denaar (talk) 04:18, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
- As unstylish as it may look, I'm not entirely opposed to the change of name, seeing as it holds no meaning in any particular language, it's hard to classify "en" as a preposition (it's not indicating anything, other than the sound you're speaking). Though, it's been quite some time since I've been active on Wikipedia, and I'm not up to date on policies, so it might take some time for me to make a statement on the issue. Thank you for the message though, I'm glad to see the DEG pages are still being monitored vigilantly. :) --Jacob Talk 20:43, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
