Not sure how I leave a note here. I apologize for any misuse. It isn't intended. I thought I would be able to update Wikipedia for the band Ocean Carolina & I am happy to do so using my own name as opposed to Old Hand Record Company. My name is Tim Kopischke. Thank you.

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "OldHandRecordCompany", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are

Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.  GILO   A&E 23:07, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply

I am not trying to violate any rules here. I do not understand why I can't add facts about Ocean Carolina like many, many other artists have on here... many of whom are as "unknown" as Ocean Carolina is. There are a couple notable people in the band that I believe Wikipedia users would like to know what else they are doing.

I also would like to change my name to Tim Kopischke. Can you please help me with that?

Why is a violation to add an Americana band to an Americana article on Wikipedia? I ask the same question about adding an alt-country band to an alt-country article?

I am very confused. I am not promoting but rather stating facts. OldHandRecordCompany (talk) 21:33, 2 December 2013 (UTC) Old Hand Record Company <-- FYI I am trying to change my name to Tim Kopischke as well.[reply]

I am not the only one who would like to learn that Jon Graboff and Caitlin Cary played on Ocean Carolina's album. Wikipedia is precisely one of the resources I would utilize to find this type of info. out. OldHandRecordCompany (talk) 21:36, 2 December 2013 (UTC) Old Hand Record Company[reply]

Promotion

PS: I should point out that your user name is still a violation of Wikipedia's
user name policy. Your attempt to rectify this situation in November failed because you did not respond to the message you received from the Tyrol above. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply

I have copied the above response from

Since you are closely related to Ocean Carolina's record label, it would be
request an article
and see if someone not connected to the band chooses to step up to the task.
Finally, regarding your name change, you should go to
WP:CHU and issue another request for a name change, this time with your proper current user name. Note that you will probably be warned about using your real name. You are allowed to do so, but most people prefer not to. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:14, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a
policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
