Fresno

You obviously are not from California, so don't go and change California edits that you know nothing about, in the major cities of my state of California the articles should say for example Fresno is a city in the us state of California. Fresno is in Northern California. Central California is not a common word used in the state and is a sub region of Northern California so please stop changing my edits. This is becoming ridiculous I don't care how much of a Wikipedia veteran you are you don't know everything and you obviously don't know about the geography of my state. I always have to deal with people changing my edits and then informing them and then they change them back and I'm tired of new users getting all excited and changing pages that are perfectly fine. (Ladygaga328 (talk) 04:10, 1 August 2014 (UTC))

@Ladygaga328: Hi. You don't have to be from California to be able to read a map. To say that Fresno is in Northern California is absurd. Again, look at a map. If you don't want to classify it as central California, it is in the southern half of the state, so technically you could say it was southern California. But to say Northern California is simply inaccurate. If you make edits which are correct, I won't bother them. But when you make changes which are in error, they will be corrected. Again, try looking at a map, it might help your understanding of your state's geography. Just so you're aware, CA runs from 42 longitude at its border with OR, to approximately 35 longitude at its border with Mexico. Fresno lies at 36 degrees 45 seconds longitude, so let's just overestimate and say its at 37 degrees longitude. So is 37 closer to 35 or 42? I'll give you a hint. It's closer to the southern border. And, in the future, learn to be civil. Onel5969 (talk) 04:38, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

music?

Hi there,

I'm trying to create the following article on UK artist Son Of Jack - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Son_Of_Jack

The comment left after you denied simply says 'music' - are you able to expand on this and let me know what I need to include in order to have the article published?

Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smtillot (talkcontribs) 16:42, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

@Smtillot: Hi. That was a while ago, and I signed it with a template, which looks like someone has gone in and changed. Looking at the article, it appears that the singer doesn't meet the guidelines for notability set down in NMUSIC. Doesn't mean he's not notable, just that the article, with the references cited, doesn't show that notability. Being of Welsh heritage myself, would love to see this article published. His group, Grace, would qualify, since it was signed by EMI, but not himself. Take a look at the 12 guidelines, and see if you can figure out which one(s) he would fit, then find articles which can be used as citations. Hope this helps. Prescott, Arizona

Can you find a source for her connection to Prescott? Without one, all we have is a claim of connection to the city. At least in the other names on the list, there are articles full of refs - but on this one, there's currently nothing. I'm not asking for material to create an article, just a single ref connecting her to the city would meet

WP:V in this case. --- Barek (talkcontribs

Okay, I think I found a ref that links her to being form Prescott. Although one minor clarification - it lists her as representing the "Miss Yavapai" title during the Miss Arizona competition, not as "Miss Prescott". --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 23:41, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Heat

Dear Onel5969:

Thank you for your message. I will still remain concerned about the use of "affair" in this context, as Pacino's wife's character definitely was not having one! Perhaps "dalliance" is inaccurate, too. An affair, in my opinion, is entered into with the thought of investing one's heart and soul into the relationship (separate and apart from the moral implications). Pacino's wife's character wished to do no such thing, as she made it clear in their dialogue why she had become involved with "Ralph" ("to put closure" to her relationship with Pacino's wife's character).

Take care.

Passport map

I noticed that you have thanked me for adding the passport cover color map to the Passport article. Thanks for thanking me :) But we have a problem, there is a user adamant to remove it from that article and the List of passports as well. Looking just at his most recent edit history, he is a "remover", removing content left and right on Wikipedia. Anyhow his rationale here is that it is "unsourced" while the gallery in the very List of passports is the source for 90% of the information with a few missing ones filled from elsewhere. His rationale is patent nonsense and so typical for users whose only purpose on Wikipedia is to find things they can remove, with none of very little own contribution. (A sidenote: Just today I have seen some images of French passport covers removed from Commons even though everyone voted to keep them as the admin thought they were a copyright violation because they contain the French coat of arms (?). At the same time he decided to leave all the files of the passport internal pages because those did not meet the originality threshold - altogether with complex security patterns and actual design (!)). Needless to say this kind of destructive editing requires full attention of the community. I have spent significant time on building that map so I would be grateful if you could also pay attention to his antics as there is a "3-revert-rule" that some admins care more about than what the dispute is all about and for that reason I can't fight him alone. Regards, --Twofortnights (talk) 23:40, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Consider it done. Will help you in this... thought the map was brilliant work. I do my fair share of reverting uncited work, and clearly this map does not fall into this category. Onel5969 (talk) 23:47, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
What might help, is if on the commons file you could put the sources, that might alleviate some of his concerns, since WP is not supposed to be original research. If you could do that, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Onel5969 (talk) 23:54, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you again. I have tried to be as precise as possible using the eyedropper tool. Now the problem with listing the sources is that I am not sure what is it that would satisfy someone who thinks the map is unsourced. Governments won't share the exact Pantone codes for security reasons (so one can always be cynical and claim how there is no source), so the best we can do is find sources that say for an example "the EU passports share the common burgundy cover" or something like that? I didn't go into the exact color and slight factory variations which might exist even within the same country (and not just with the color, for an example this is the official cover of the Italian passport - File:Passaportoitaliano2006.jpg however many Italians were issued with passports with the star on the coat of arms without fill - [1] which is a version nowhere to be found officially - [2], so who knows, a person travelling with it might experience problems because they have an "unsourced" passport :)) but kept it down to one shade of the colors used worldwide and those are burgundy, maroon, crimson / navy, light blue, independence blue / black / green, teal, moss and turquoise. Interestingly no country issues yellow passports :) (although there is no data to be found on Wikipedia or elsewhere on the internet about the Solomon Islands and Samoa passports so in theory they might be). Regards, --Twofortnights (talk) 00:19, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Yeah he removed it again (based on someone else removed it, while that someone else did it for the missing Hong Kong and Macau) and started a talk page discussion where he claims it is "unimportant". Please take a look at Talk:List_of_passports#Map_of_passport_colors. This is so annoying.--Twofortnights (talk) 10:25, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I Remember Mama (play)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of I Remember Mama (play), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.funkyflick.com/movie/cardbyname/I_Remember_Mama.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
